Yes. I feel lucky, because I bought Rowdy. <3

Off-topic: Anybody know good ways to find a new LOCAL owner for a cat? We have one who needs a new home badly and I don't want to post and ad online. ;-;

craigslist is very local...

you could make flyers with a pic and the cats temperament and a number and hand them to neighbors, and go to vet offices and ask to hang them in there, or go to neighbors houses and tell them about this cat. put a cheap classified ad in the local paper.

I use a double joint egg butt bit. Rode with slim D ring snaffle for while, but then trainer(who told to use it in first place) said to switch to 3-piece after a month. :roll: Before those Heta had a really thick snaffle, that didn't work for her at all as she was slow on the mouth and heavy on the hand. None of the bits are chosen by me as then she was still a lesson horse when all the changes happened, I just got the bridle with her and I don't feel the need to change the bit as it works okay. I've been thinking about using hackamore on Heta because she likes to lean on the bit and be heavy on the hand, but they are hard to find or too expensive. Also not sure how it would really work on her. For noseband I first had drop one, but it and several others were too big, so she could easily just ignore the bit by opening her mouth and playing with the tongue. So then I got her pony size flash noseband(top part is crank style), though the top part is bit loose but the lower band fits so it works nicely. It broke once so before I got it fixed I borrowed one from the stable, it's called lever noseband.Click here for pic It was my instrutors idea, she tried it on one lesson I couldn't ride Heta and it went well. So when mine broke she let me use it. Works basically like flash or mexican I think, so worked for Heta really well. Only part that bothered me was that the metal part was maybe bit too long. What I like in Icelandics general is the simple bridle. One strap holding the bit, with no throatlash and sometimes no browband. The noseband, most commonly used is drop, is usually totally separate from the rest of the bridle so just put it on and you're ready to go. When I rode regular big horses I found the extra straps getting on my way every no and then, plus they are harder to clean... lol

I ride denzel in a loose ring snaffle with a flash. I only really use a flash when hacking and jumping (he likes to bite the bit and run!) I used to have an eggbutt snaffle but he head shakes alot and a loose ring helped me so when he did shake I was much less likely to catch him in the mouth.

Btw I would not suggest harsher bits for a horse that leans, it would just toughen their mouth so they listen even less. Denzel leans to the right. So I got the flash. With him listening I could play with the reins to get him to stop leaning and poking his nose. I would suggest a grackle. Denzel doesn't need it all the time son a flash is easier for me.
btw Mandy-Lou22 is soooo amazing wanna give her a massive hug

Argh.... I'm going crazy with our cars, or just one car now. So I recently crashed our small newer nice car... I doesn't look so bad, but it's beyond help. :( Then today our old big heavy car first decides that you can't put the parking gear on and then after you finally get it that you can't put the driving gear on... Well mom and a friend of hers got it to work, but drove it to the repair shop. So no car today means no riding today. We should get it back tomorrow, but I have bad feeling... Plus it tends to make the side windows all frosty inside. So not happy to drive it plus the driving conditions this winter have been horrible, and I don't want to drive then so that I don't crash our other car as well. So I can't ride even when I have time and want to... Please be spring soon.... But there's some good news. We are getting another car to replace the crashed and my mom it's okay to get a car that can pull a trailer, since I have the licence to do so and stable has a trailer, but the car can't be very big and has to have automatic gears... So I'm car hunting now. ;)

Has anyone been in a exhibition/fair as representant from some association or business, like stable, club or something? There's a horse fair comming and our Icelandic horse association is looking for persons and horses to represent it. I'm thinking about volunteering myself and Heta for day or two. It's in March, close to our home and I have time, plus free entry fees for the rest of the fair. I would only have to figure out a car from somewhere to pull the trailer, or hope that we got a new one by then...

I'm not competing with Diesel on the 12th. My instructor and her husband were discussing it, and decided that he's unfit and it won't be enough time. Which is fine by me, honestly. Now I just get some time to get to know him.

I am actually soo relieved, after being their and doing it, I know what your having to do. I do (personally) feel it would have been unfair to compete him as it would have been setting up for a fall. Also now you don't feel like you have to rush towards anything so it can how your horse is comfortable with. When I got denzel he would bolt which was very scary till I found out he could only run for about 5min, so just say there and then went for a nice walk. It made him learn he won't achieving anything. It would have been horrifying if he was fit enough to run longer.
