Ugh. Worst luck ever.
After booking my lesson for Sunday I started to feel better; my chest felt better and I wasn't coughing as much; my ear was more comfortable and I generally felt a little brighter. Then on Tuesday I was feeling really down, like, sinus-y and I had a dry cough. Because I'd just come off a ten day course of pretty strong medication, and hadn't been well since before Christmas, my mum decided to get me in to see the doctor again.
I've now got a glue-ear type thing [where the tube in the ear closes up slightly, making it painful and hard to hear] going on as a result of the infection [apparently at my age, you're only likely to get this because of improper treatment/not treating an ear infection at all. Uh, hello, I was on antibiotics?] and am on even more medicine now. Whoop, because I feel awful. My cough's worse again, my throat hurts, my hearing is still muted and the glands in my neck are all up. ;-;

So, since I've been off school today and yesterday, my mum's decided I won't be well enough to ride on Sunday and is going to cancel my lesson. :c *sigh* I was really looking forward to riding for the first time in... easily a month, but now it's being postponed yet again. I just want to get better for good.

That sucks Bearsy. D: Small tip: Honey helps for the sore throat. Try mixing it with hot water and then drink it. I always drink that when I'm sick, or then I eat the honey straight from the jar if it's just sore throat. Other than that just try rest and eat. Hopefully you feel better soon and get back in the saddle.

It's snowing outside like a lot... I shoveled the snow yesterday evening and now there's atleast double the amout... 20 cm or even 30 cm... So there's no way I'm driving to the stable, not after Friday. Plus I have to drive our bigger car, which I'm not totally comfortable driving. *sigh* I have started to hate winter... And Heta was so nice yesterday too. She got left canter nicely, atleast I think it was left 'cause she maneged the corners, and went the whole round with out cutting the corners as she usually does. Plus I got accidentally some clean tolt out of her when I switched the whip to my other hand in tolt. She has issue of speeding up if I do it in trot or tolt, but this time she actually took those hind legs of her under her properly. It felt awsome, but it was just for few meters untl it was back to the pacy tolt. But I guess I today I just go shoveling again... Then might clean up the house a bit. Tomorrow... The forecast looks similar as todays, so we'll see how it turns out.

I Love roxy even though she spooks all the time and takes the P*** Out of me.I cantered on Milo and He has a really nice canter :3

We had 2mm of freezing rain on tuesday which sucks so much (have no indoor ring). So all our nice fluffy snow has turned into sharp ice :( no more riding in the field until it melts I guess. Go away ice!

So while my barn journeyed down to West Palm Beach for a big a** show, I was left at home. Of course. But I am going next year. Supposably. Well anyways, I have been out of the saddle for week until my lesson a couple days ago.

I was riding Abra, lazy pony, and it was raining again. My trainer said I am going to be epic in tight spaces by the end of the winter because I am always riding in the indoor arena that is so small. About six strides on the short side, ten on the long. So really short. We can only fit like one jump in there and it is on the diagonal at a really wired angle and a few poles flanking it. I have rode in that arena with tons of other people being in there at the same time. One girl was trying out like three of my trainers horses and was popping them over three foot jumps, but I easily stayed out of her way and her trainers when he got on. I am becoming a pro of staying out of peoples way and I have a feeling I am going to rock the warm up arena at shows, as well as large flat classes when it comes to spacing. So anyways Abra was a slow poke. Gosh. I took my jacket off with in the first few minutes of the class and my trainer, of course, teased me. She told the person next to her that she has never seen me finish a lesson with a jacket on, even when it is like thirty two degrees outside. I get hot easily! I walked Abra around and we started talking about ponies, because I had gotten on from the ground. We talked about vaulting on and how we could not do it from the ground onto big horses let alone large ponies, but knew people who could. And then we wandered over to ponies and I mentioned how I had watched the Grand Prix rider at my old barn ride his little medium sell pony over jumps and she said that she had seen this six-foot guy get on his kid's small because it was acting up and need schooling or something. Any ways he was jumping a course with it and over each jump he had to pinch with his knee and send his leg back where he did not take out the jump with his leg. Over the last one he forgot and knocked out a pole. We walked and then trotted and Abra was dragging butt. He was on the bit and all, but his hind end was trailing. Even which my repeated nudges with the heel and death grip with my calf he was going slow, so I had to use the crop a few times. I did not smack him, just tapped him on the shoulder reminding him I had it. Once I went back to smack him with it and he shot forward before it even came down. Goose. We trotted a lot and did no stirrup work, which I am quite a pro at. We started off with sitting which is frankly pretty easy with out your irons, I just have to worry about keeping my upper body nice and straight with out being to ridged and locking up my elbow. We then did posting, which was fun. The canter was okay. except for the fact that Abra kept on trying to break and was successful a few times. He kept on leaning up against the bit and trying to take his head to the ground as he tried to stop moving. It was a headache and I really had to work to keep him going. We finally got him sorted out and worked on jumping. The first jump I got left behind a bit because I was not excepting the power in Abra's jump. We were cantering to the jump and I took a turn to soon. I was working on getting lined up again when Abra deiced he liked a spot and took it, with out my authorization. I got jumped back and struggled to keep up with him, my body end up sliding a bit past the cantle. We landed and got back together, approaching it again. The second time was better, but my release was not big enough and I popped him in the mouth by accident. After that it went pretty smooth and we got better and better, until my trainer decided to end our session on a good note.

So a good lesson after being out of the saddle for a week.
