Dolphinlover~ wrote:I had a good lesson on Woody today. It was a private lesson so it was really fun. It took me a while to warm up and get into my "zone" but once I did (and shortened my stirrups XP) everything fell right into place. At the end of the lesson we did a course with five jumps, some 2'3" others 2'6". My trainer was really pleased and said I rode that wonderfully and that it was my best riding of the day :3 Yep so it was a really good lesson towards the end once I shortened my stirrups xD

1. Gripping with your knees can cause you to lean= bad. You will cause the horse to be unbalanced. Only grip if it's a situation in which if you don't you will end up on the floor.
2. When I see people gripping with their knees their tend to be tense. You need to relax.
3. Grip with lower leg if you have to. No gripping should be necessary if you have a secure seat and the weight is in your heals. Eg how do jokeys stay on the horse. They cant grip with their knees their knees aren't even in the saddle. Answer weight is soley in their heals keeping them balanced.
4. At any point you should be able to slide your hand from your thigh to knee (on the inside of your leg)
Hope this helps
