I love Road to the Maclay! Me and my bestie do marothons of it all the time when we are bored -that with saddle club and vedios of usef, we are such geeks. My favorite is Brianne of course, she is the most gifted rider in the group. After that my favorite is the college girl (can't rember her name) and Peter Pans owner, again I can't rember her name.

None of you guys should be beat yourself up over them being so 'good'. Their parents have deep pockets and can buy them half a mil and get to pay for lessons where they can ride ten horses a day seven days a week under top trainers like Missy Clark, The Maddens, Andre, and a list that goes on and on. So if you had their resources you could be just as good, if not better then some of those girls.

Yeah isn't the show great? :) Aww that's awesome!! You guys are not geeks, I would do the same thing if my best friend lived in the same state as me anymore xDD Brianne is very gifted, such an amazing rider she is indeed. I really like Lindsay, because I feellike she is the underdog without having all of the money those other girls do. So I really like her ^^

So true, if we did have the money they did I am sure all of us would be as good as them. I don't think some of them realize how dang lucky they are. Their horses are so amazing that if they make a mistake the horse pretty much covers it up :lol:

~~~~
I had a great lesson this afternoon! I was my favorite horse at my old stable, Belle <33 I can't even start to discribe what a sweet-heart and amazing horse she is. We did a lot of no stirrups work at the trot and canter. My new instructor said that Belle and I looked great :3 Then we jumped a small crossrail at the trot as a warm up. Then we made a line -- about two strides (for Belle it was like one and half -- she has long strides). The first time we did it at the trot. Then we trotted in and cantered out. The first time we trotted in and cantered out we got a weird distance since Belle has longer strides, so my instructor adjusted it since she saw it rode short. Then we went again and added on another vertical after a turn. That went really well, since we got a good distance and I wasn't behind the motion like when we got the weird distance xDD
I got a lot of compliments this lessons, which always makes me feel good <33 During the lesson I was told what a good job we did. Then when we were leaving the area my instructor said exactly this: You did wonderful today, you are a star :3 I walked out smiling so big after that. What a great lesson!! :D I am so happy and proud. I love Belle <333
Plus I may go back to the stable I went to that had Pal and Cookie, and take lessons there! But then I would have to leave my old stable...So if the owner of the other stable that has Cookie can take me in for lessons I will go there instead...It will be upsetting to leave my old stable though, since I have been there since I started riding :(
Thank you all for the messages of support and encouragment! <3 My mum's going to call up and book a lesson today (as soon as she comes back downstairs I'm gonna jump on her and make her do it while I remember ;D) so I'll have something to look forward to. :3
@Dolphinlover~, Belle looks and sounds absolutely gorgeous! I hope you have fun with her, and that you can sort something out about riding at the stables; maybe you can still visit the old one every now and then, even if it's not to ride? That way you can still see the horses and it won't feel like you're abandoning them completely. C:
EDIT- My mum's just booked me a lesson for 12 o'clock on Sunday on either Obbie or Chester! :D I can't wait.
Your very welcome <33 Oh yay!!! :D I am so glad that you get to ride today!! How wonderful :3 Tell me all about how it went, I can't wait to hear about you lesson <333
Oh thank you. Yeah she is stunning, my absoulute favorite horse there <3 Thank you I do always have the best time when I am riding her. Hopefully we can figure something out, but I know whatever will happen, happens for a reason :3 Yep, if I end up riding at the stable with Cookie I will definitely make visits to my old stable with Belle, and maybe I could even take a lesson on Belle there one day if they would let me. But even if I don't ride I would for sure visit. Yeah that's a good idea <333 My parents just think that if I can ride at the stable with Cookie that it would challenge me more and that I would be learning more. Since after I cameto my new stable, I really should be at a more advanced level at my old stable :lol: Thanks again Bearsy <3 ;D
Aw, I wish it was today-- it's next Sunday. I missed the 'next' out from the original post. xD But thank you, I'll make sure to let you all know how it goes. <3
I can totally understand why you want to go to the stable with Cookie; it sounds like you're more challenged there, and if you're not really being pushed then you can't get very far. When I first started riding I didn't canter for about two years, whereas my friend started riding after me and was cantering within a few months. At the time it happened, I felt fine, and was perfectly happy going at that [incredibly] slow pace, but looking back, I wonder if maybe I'd be more confident and further with my riding had I been pushed from the start. So yeah, long story short, I hope you get on well and get the more advanced lessons that you need, rather than being --sort of-- held back by the lower level. ;) Aha, you're welcome. <33
I have a question for anyone who jumps. My horse, Skip, is a trained and western-ridden horse. The barn I board at just got some new jump stuff, and I want to teach him to jump in a western saddle. I have read of the dangers, but these jumps are log height. I have a friend who trains horses tell me it's okay to jump him over those. These jumps are litteraly less than 1 ft. She said it's safe and I have gotten him to "jump" the log sized one at a trot. Does anyone have any tips,advise, or warnings I should know about. My horse is very gentle and I do have a lot of riding experience.
My bad >.< Sorry about that, I should have known better :lol: Well yes, you do have something to look forward to now :) Yep still be sure to tell me all about it <33
Thanks, yeah it's important to be challenged in your riding. Plus the owner told me that she has a new trainer from Brazil who is a show jumper 8D She said that she even had a lesson with him on her horse xD So she was really excited about if she could have me back. Oh wow, your friend started cantering fast! I started cantering around the same time as you did actually, about two (or more) years after I started riding. See that's the exact problem with my old stable is that they progress at a slow pace...and we do similar things each lesson (well we just got a new instructor and se is mixing things up). That's the problem, I guess if you were moving at a faster pace maybe something would be different...That's the problem I have with moving at the pace of my old stable. I really should be in their Novice I/II level which is one lower than their most advanced level. And even they don't jump 2'6"...But I have to wait for my whole level to be ready to move up :/ So that holds me back, and my instructor can see I am the best rider in that level, since she knows I ride with a trainer.
Oh I was happy to hear your story, because it was actually just like mine xD I love how they were so similar, haha :lol: Yeah sorry for my story, I just thought it was cool that we could realate :3 Yeah if I can't ride at the stable with Cookie, than we just may make a special request for me to be moved up a level or two just to be challenged. No it's true, I am being held back xD Thanks again hun <33
Had a great lesson today on my horse :) we were doing some really big fences, but I wasnt riding her right to them and she ducked out the side a couple of times but when I tried riding her more she went really well! The biggest fence was 1m 30 (4'3!) :D soo happy now and feeling much more confident about my blue chip qualifier show next weekend thats around 3'6 courses :)
Ooh, good luck with the new trainer! Sounds like you've got a really nice oppurtunity to get a different method of teaching, since the guy (or girl ;P) is a show jumper themselves, so it should be super fun.
I know, when she told me I was just like, "oh wow." but then again, if I remember correctly it was an accidental canter. xD I think she was on the pony who used to spook at everything, so I think it was just a kind of "you stayed on, so we may as well roll with this!". Yeah, I don't want to really dwell on it and be all 'ohhh if I progressed faster I'd be amazing now, woe is me sadness D:' and everything, but it is just something that'd be interesting to find out. I mean, I doubt I'd be that much more advanced, but it could have meant I was more comfortable getting back into jumping after my fall last year. Then again, I could've fallen off more times than I have and hurt myself worse/broken a bone or something. ;D
Aha, that's cool, I was glad to hear I'm not the only one! ;3 It's always nice to find someone who's had a similar experience, because then I don't feel like it only happened as a result of some mistake I made and that I could have made a difference. c; And you're welcome again. xD
I actually kind- of don't recommend jumping in a Western saddle because of the horn.
And if you're horse actually jumps over those jumps instead of trotting over the horn could poke your stomach.
Tell me if I am wrong I do not ride Western.
