Um, I need some help from you Hunter/Jumper peeps.

Okay, so my issue is stirrups. I am a MESS. In western, I can pretty much race barrels without the no problem because of the high cantle and better gripping, and since the stirrups are thinker, I'm not constantly losing them.

But in English, they are so skinny, I lose them easily. I'm so used to my seat andegs doing a lot of the work, but it's not possible with a English saddle, at least for me. When I put the weight necessary to jump, after only four jumps, my ankles start hurting and my foot gets strained and pulled. I need to keep my feet in the stirrups. But I have such a hard time.

Another issue I'm having is that when I do flatwork, my feet flair out so much, the safety band on the outside of the stirrups nearly pops out, I lose my balance, and my feet hurt in the end.

On a brighter(?) note, I'm getting "weaned" off crossrails on my fifth lesson. :D

Have you tried 'Stirrup grips?' When i rode english i kept losing my stirrups and my instuctor gave me the grips.
there like little rubber soles that attact the the stirrups, i found they reallly helped me :)

It's snowing! :D Though it looks like it will turn into sleet soon... It started snowing when I was driving half way to the stable. Horses were still inside munching their remaining morning hay so I spent some time untangling Heta's tail, before tacking her up. I don't think she even tryed to snap at me when put the girth, she hates that thing... Outside Heta turned into snowflake patterned horse as the snowflakes were big and fluffy and didn't melt right away. Too bad I didn't get a picture... Arena is still in quite bad shape, but half of it is decent and there's totally flat part in the center. Did some basic stuff, circles and stops. Quite lot of tolt as well, but almost every time I turned her to left circle she switched to trot, right circles she was okay with. She was bit heavy on the hand once again, though there was some really nice parts in walk. She was particulary heavy on the left rein when it was as outside rein. I let her trot in the end with loose reins and I tryed to work my seat in sitting trot. I can stay down quite well, but my back starts hurting after sometime... Maybe caused by me being tense somehow? After riding she got her rug on and went outside with two other mares. The horses enjoyed the clean snow a lot, plus they got themselves cleaned by rolling. The other owner said the was a black spot on the ground where one gelding had rolled. lol
Questions: In winter when snow packs on the soles of the hooves, sometimes so much that horses have hard time walking, what is this called in english? To prevent it there are these rubber things that have small tube like edging. They are placed between the shoe and hoof, so that the edging is next to the shoes inside edge. The tube moves so that the snow can't pack on the sole of the hoof. Also what are these rubbers called in english?
Can we pretend that the airplanes in the night sky are like shooting stars?
I could really use a wish right now, wish right now, wish right now...

I am finally back from a week long vacation! I can see that I missed a lot xDD Well since people were listing what they got as presents I guess I will do so too.

Horsie related presents:
- Black Fleece Lined Breeches
- A Black Riding Sport Fleece
- A Summer "Cool Max" Riding Shirt
- Continuing Lessons For the Whole Year With My Trainer
- January 28th Away Show, Plus More Shows in The Spring and Summer

My dad also just told me yesterday after my lesson that he was talking with my trainer about leasing and that he was thinking of surprising me with that as a gift too. But it is way too hard to drive and 1 hour both ways on a school night and having to do all of my work in the car. I totally understood, but he said maybe over the summer! :D

I had a great lesson yesterday. I rode Bubbles for the second time! She is a really good girl, even though she can be a little bit of a diva sometimes xDD I jumped her for the first time, and I don't think my other trainer (she helps my regular trainer teach lessons) even knew that! She said that I have been improving a lot in my riding :3

Mulligan, you make my world go round and I can't stand to see you go.
I'm going to miss you like crazy and I love you to pieces.
You are the love of my life and will always occupy a huge portion of my heart.
I want you to know how much I love you, and our 6 months together have been the best 6 months of my life.
You have been a dream come true and I have been on cloud nine since we first met.
I will never forgot all of the amazing times we've had together.
Enjoy your new home and promise me this, that you will never forget me, as I will never forget you.

Nice presents! And great work with your riding :3

Gahhh, I want to ride right now, but I can't. I'm so bored, and Grace gets bored in her feild easily, too. Plus it'll be dark in like, two hours, so I wouldn't be able to hack-out, but be refined to the boring arena which we both hate....

Thank you very much ^^ I would go back and search through pages for other peoples presents because I am sure they were great too but I have no idea what pages they are on xDD

Oh thank you so much :3 I feel like I am really improving, since one girl I rode with two weeks ago -- when she jumped Bubbles, Bubbles would refuse the fence everytime since she would look down at the fence. So I feel good being able to ride a more advanced horse~
