We could go to my barn! =) We've got twenty riding horses and ponies, and trails, beautiful trails.
Speaking of which, what would you guys consider a 'good' stable. I don't just mean that the trainer is good and you learn a lot, but everything.
I say, it's one where you can work in the ring, and also ride out on the trails as well. I've had kids come for trail rides who've been taking lessons for a couple years at a place where they'd only been in the ring. Get them out on the trail, and they start crying the second their foot falls out of the stirrup. (True story). Trail riding is different than ring work. Sometimes it's harder, since the horses spook much more easily than in the ring (unless they're Henry and I'm riding him.).
A good stable also has other riders around your age who you become friends with. If you don't have friends while riding, it's just not as fun. So if you're somewhere where you haven't made friends yet because you never have time to meet people, then it's not a good stable. I now practically live at Abby's house in the summer because of all the time we put in together working around the barn and going out on trails together.
So, what do you call a good stable?
