Moon Riser: YAY! Good for you! It was super fun I bet. I remember my very first canter. <3 It was on Tonka, the little buckskin QH. xD He was also my first 2 foot horse.

Thanks for the advice ^^ I won't jump him anymore until I either get lessons,or an English saddle. Before I saw your post I jumped him.SO not the jumping type.He broke the poll/broom stick I had, can't jump a log because he passes it,can't jump hay,and the branch that he had jumped pretty high over is to small now.I get so mad with him, even though I shouldn't since he's not trained to jump.I guess next time i'll go to a barn and ride a jumping horse,or maybe we can train Storm to jump a lot, instead of only when he wants to.
I went around a bucket, sometimes at the slow gallop.I was galloping in the pen,and in the field, and when it was a very fast gallop or full out run it felt weird,I'm not quite sure why.Maybe because he wasn't going as fast as usual or something.I don't know.I just wish he would of been trained to jump, now,I would rather jump than barrel race. But I just don't see how in English everyone sits up the way they do,because I can't really do it even western.Maybe it's easier than it looks.I don't know.I'll stop rambling now.

Good choice. :3

Silly horse! He just isn't used to it, though.
Hm... you say he feels funny? He could've injured himself somehow, over the jump or elsewhere. Have someone experienced with horse lameness take a look at him...
I hope you can try jumping lessons!

yup, English is a lot different from Western. Shoulders back, hip angle barely closed, leg directly behind the girth with even contact throughout, even contact with the big and little toe, heels down and ankles relaxed, center of balance even on the tripod, arms relaxed, eyes up... etc. etc.

Thanks ^^
Yes,maybe it's because I was working on jumping and barrel racing so much I hadn't galloped fast for awhile, that could be it,not sure though. It's dark now,so i'll look at him tomorrow. For a few steps he felt like he was limping, but then he stopped.Sometime hopefully the farrier will come and do his feet,so if anything it wrong he'll know.I'll also know tomorrow if something's wrong.
Oh thank you<3 Me too<3
Wow,a lot that i'm going to have to get use to,if I even get an English saddle ^^
I'm glad this thread was made,so many people who know what they talking about, and you can ask for help and it's awesome<3

I would say that you should defineately get lessons if you want to learn to jump more then the odd thing every once in a while. There's more to it then it looks- position over jumps, approach, speed, distancing, making sure you release the horse's mouth. And you should probably learn to jump yourself before trying to teach Storm at the same time. It will make it so much easier, and safer too. You'll know what he's supposed to do, so you won't both be guessing.
