I jumped Obbie for the first time since I fell off him today. :D
He was such a little star and has chilled out a lot, where rushing towards jumps is concerned. I'd not realised, but he's now got a martingale, which perhaps could contribute towards his new attitude? That and the fact that my instructor loans him, so probably does/did lots of work on keeping him calm.
Anyway, we did some flatwork to start out, and boy had I forgotten how smooth his canter is. <3 His strides just eat up the ground, though obviously we didn't have very long canters most times, because he doesn't like walking through the boggy corner and decided to trot around it, rather than keep cantering.
He's still a darling, though. ;3 After the warm up, we jumped a cross a few times, then put it up a hole (on the wings) then did it at the new height, always cantering in after that first jump where I trotted, just because I wasn't sure if he'd charge ahead like he used to. --He didn't, I'm pleased to report.--
So then I had to take Obbie over the cross and then go right to the wall, before turning to go over a (tiny) straight. Repeated that, then had the cross put up once more, and took Obbie over that.
The final height, at the centre of the cross, was the same --more or less-- as the dreaded top of the blocks. My instructor was very sneaky, since she knows I prefer crosses to straights --and, weirdly, wings to blocks. But she probably isn't aware of that.-- and get quite scared about jumping higher straights, for whatever strange reason.
So, yeah. I'm pretty proud of myself. Even though Obbie stepped on me when I got him back to his stable. :/ Then when I tried to shove him off, he stepped foward and nearly got my other foot. xD
I'm really happy to have my confidence back with Obbie, because now I've got a third option if I can't have Chester. (Obbie, Dodger --who's lazy as anything-- or Jock, even though he's too small. But he's the final choice, so hopefully atleast one of the other two will always be available.)
EDIT- Almost forgot, I was heartbroken to see a horse in Teddy's stable. I'm seriously hoping that he was only in Ted's stable while his own was being mucked out, and that Teddy himself was in the feild out back. Nothing can happen to that pony; he's been there probably the whole time I have, and he was the one I used to ride obsessively before Flo came along.
Haha, I saw a little girl on Flo in the outdoor school before me, and I'm so proud of that pony. <3 She was always the safer sister, while Elle would go out of control when being asked to canter. Though she did go through a funny stage, she's worked through it. When I rode her, I loved her and I think she responded better to me than any of the other people I've seen ride her. Flo taught me to jump, before I moved up to horses, and now she's teaching even more kids the fun of riding. I love her, still. x3
