Had a lesson yesterday and hung out at the stables today.
Danyna is amazing! She tries to hard. And she is a giant goofball.
So we started with 4 trot poles, one after another. Easy right? Well apparently Danyna forgot how to go over them properly, or thought it was "Interpretive poles" or something. We've done them loads of times before. The first time, she went wayyy over the the side, and then kind of drifted back to the middle despite my leg aids, and was taking tons of extra steps and half steps. We went in at a good speed too. So me and my trainer were both laughing cause it felt and looked so stupid. The next three times she would start off fine, then get confused with her back feet and tack extra half steps. So my trainer kept saying "Do it one more time, maybe she'll figure it out." Then, we did it again, the first pole she stepped over fine, then she cantered the last three! No joke! It felt so weird and fun. She took a whole stride for every pole, just like if they were canter poles, except that they were much closer together. So I was laughing, and my trainer was laughing at her, she said she's never seen a horse do that before. It took two more tries before Danyna remembered what to do that it was fine. We tried to get canter lead change over a pole (We have no idea if shes ever done them before, I think maybe not) and that didnt work. So we tried over a jump, and of 4 tries, we got it twice! Apparently, the second time I got it, my trainer said my timing was perfect and if she didn't know what I was trying to do, she wouldn't have been able to spot it. And it felt smooth, too.
Danyna is an amazing goofball. Lol.
