Hopefully there'll be drill practice again tonight. Part of me is super-excited, but the other part....I'm hoping Lady doesn't act up. She tried to kick one of the geldings last week. She's not very friendly. Oh well, I'd take trying to kick over bucking anyday. At least I can stop the kicking.

yeah, I'm sure once he knows me better, and trusts me, he won't be so much. the main thing I have to work with him with is objects around his face he is fine with hands messing with his legs, me going behind him, me messing with his ears, but he doesn't like objects- like brushes and sticks(lol)- around his face.
He comes home saturday! I am so excited!

I looked at leasing this one mare that was extremely head shy. You actually had to take her bridle COMPLETELY apart before you could even put the bit in her mouth.

@Tanner: He probably will trust you more and let you do it eventually. ^.^ It's amazing how quickly a horse can actually learn to trust you enough to do stuff you couldn't do before.

Had a lesson today, a very intersting one indeed.

My good riding friends came in to the lesson with me,but one of them had to work so we all just talked. I got to ride Houston, my other friend got lucy, the most adcanced friend of mine of Reba. Oh course Houston was not being still, always having his side to the metal fence next to his rope where I clipped him. My trainer last time told me to be strong, and not take his crap. Which sometimes worked, but he was a good boy when I tacked him up with his bartech. I guess it counts as bareback without a saddle. After that I went into the arena, and ajusted his martingale, and girth. I got on him right after since he was at the pasture and thats why he's a little fat haha. Then I saw Fred, all tacked up and looking pretty. Once his owner got on him, and he didn't want to walk, he did a very slow walk instead. I was fun to ride with him. Then He left because she didn't want to interrupt the lesson. So then I did some more cantering On the line, It's fun but so tiring! I need tips haha. Reba was a brat when My friend was riding her, and crow hopped. Then ended up making her cry, and made her do alot of one rein turns on miss reba. Then some courses and houston was being a big jerk, I ended up having to do one of the things alot. Throwing his head in the air, ears pinned, snarls falring, but suprising he didn't buck or rear.

With fred is with anyone's guess. His owner is thinking of putting him in the stall, and waiting three months, then giving him a shot and seeing what will happen. It sucks how the vet doesn't know what's wrong with him.

Had a lesson today, and it went pretty well, except for that I'm STILL having trouble with posting. XD It's like, in my brain I'm posting, but in reality I'm not. Haha. Any suggestions?

I have some advice.

Let the horses motion help you, It feels like a spring and go along with the spring,
Don't post to high Let the spring do it for you.
Try with the bottom of you foot to be down so it's easier to make the motion
also along with that ^ try having to slide out your foot a alittle, like to your pinky toe
Hands steady or else your bumping the horse's bit.
Have good posture, like back straight, shoulder's back, and stuff
Maybe streching your lower legs and core could help aswell

When your posting be sure to not land hard in the saddle because that will relly hurt you horse.
Also try not to go too high out of the saddle because then you will unbalance yourself and end up ploping back in the saddle.
Like Moon Riser said (and what I was thinking before I saw that xD) is let your horse's motion help bring you out of the saddle and back down.
Oh and always be sure that your stirrup is on the ball of your foot, because that may be the cause of some balancing issue's and stuff.
It may take a while of getting used to but after a while it will just become a habbit
Good luck with posting!

Any Show Names For my Horse?!

I have a pony, Scotty, who I LOVE and adore! He is a playful 14.1 hh chestnut ASP. He is very friendly on the ground and a joy to ride. He LOVES to jump. He can be naughty at times. Oh, and he is very cute! So do you have any ideas for a show name? It does not need to have "Scotty" in it. I would actually prefer it was quite different than his call-name. Please Post Ideas!!!!!!1\

A show name, or a registered name? or are those the same thing? What are his parents' names? what color is he?
