My cats found a pretty young northern red-bellied snake in the drive way and were having a blast tossing it around, my mom took it away from them and put it in a container until I got home. I put him [I’m just going to call it a him, though I’m not sure of the gender] in my spare aquarium after putting some bedding in there and I taped the lid down covering up every crack so that he couldn’t get out since he’s quite small. I just took him out after letting him calm down a little since he was freaking out when I tried to hold him and check him out before. He let me hold him after he’d been in the cage for a while and I got to look him over and noticed that he had blood around his head and it looks like the cats had bit him in quite a few places, mainly around his head, and it looks like they even nicked his eye. >< It’s been a day since we found him and he doesn’t seem to be slowed or anything by the wounds, he’s still pretty active, but I’m worried about them healing… and healing soon enough so that we can set him free again since I don’t know anything about the species and I hear that they don’t make good pets, I’m also not exactly sure if he’d be just fine in the wild if I set him free now. I don’t know how old he is, though he’s really small, I’ll have to upload a picture soon.
And on the topic of pet snakes, I’ve had my corn snake Juliet for a while and plan on hopefully being able to convince my parents to let me get a boa constrictor soon. Though they really do hate snakes, especially bigger ones, and convincing them to let me get rats and a corn snake was hard enough, so I might just have to wait on the boa until I move out. xD
