It's a bit off topic, but in a way, we are. We're the most important because we are the most powerful of all animals on Earth. We can do things others cannot, such as build machines and concrete buildings. We have the power to destroy every other animal in this world if we please. That does make us important. It makes us a very important species. It also gives us the responsibility to help protect the other animals on Earth.

If you're talking about things in general, not just animals, then I share your opinion. The sun is more important. The trees are more important. Water is more important, because, hey, everything needs sun and oxygen and water, including us.

/endofftopic.

That's an interesting thought, but there really aren't any animals that have had human DNA added to them. Now, if we stretch that statement a bit to include animals who share DNA with humans [apes ; primates] ... the benefits of testing on these animals would be that, because their DNA is mostly the same as ours, the tests would be more accurate. Say you're testing the effect of some medicine on a rat ... if you're testing it on a chimpanzee, the chimp will probably react in a way that is more similar to a human. But it could also be argued that because they are so much like humans, and have some thoughts and feelings like we do, it would be wrong. What do you think?

Trees are alive as well. And think about this, in destroying everything we would destroy ourselves. Elk are aso important because they provide life for hunters like bears and wolves. I'm pretty sure that if something else depends o. You for life your pretty darn important. Nothing depends on us, we have separated our selfs, or they sperated from us. In anyway we are only responsible for ourselfs, really making us very unimportant.

Yes, trees are living things, but they are not animals. They're vegetation. That's why I mentioned them separately P:.

What you say about how in destroying everything, we would destroy ourselves is also true. [There's another reason we have to be responsible.] I'm just trying to say that we could do that if we really felt the need. In fact, we're doing it right now. About nine thousand species [That includes both animals and plants] are going extinct each year.

It's also true that no species of animal depends on humans for food to survive, but animals do depend on us to be responsible and not destroy too much rainforest, coral reef, etc. habitat. So no, we are not only responsible for ourselves. We have the responsibility to try and take care of this planet and it's inhabitants as well as possible. That makes us an important species; really these animals do depend on us for survival. They depend on us not killing them off like we do to so many other things each year.

But again. Off topic. It would probably be a good idea not to spam any more. P:

We may be more powerful, but I don't believe that gives us more of a right to live. I think that we all (animals, humans, etc.) matter equally, and should all be respected equally as life forms because we all are equal in pain and suffering.

Yup, so what we build houses, so do foxes. We are intelligent in different ways, animals know how to catch a fish with their mouth, we know how to build a fishing pole. Just because we advance in some ways doesn't mean we should have priority over other animals.

I couldn't agree more.
It's like with dogs; we may have more human intelligence, but dogs can smell things that we could never dream of smelling. We are all different and better than each other in some ways.
There's also the matter of the 'sixth sense' which animals are believed to have, but we are believed to have lost. (Probably due to 'intelligence' and over-rationalizing.) Most animals retreat upon signs of impending danger, while we remain clueless.

Saying we're more intelligent is like comparing a wolf with a badger. Completely different.
