Ah my father decided to get another rabbit for my birthday. <3 He's a stunner, a sort of black seal(black with white undersides/accents..is that what it's called?) and has the most fantastic personality already. He and Lucy got along pretty well, but we kept their initial meeting brief just in case. He has really opened up so quickly and I just adore his lovable, cuddly personality. He's super playful and social, very different from our grumpy Lucy aha. CX He isn't much of a fan of his cage and would much rather be out with us, but we are going to work on it so he isn't miserable at night. XP Any tips for a rabbit who just doesn't like being on his own in his pen?
I've spent all day trying to figure out the perfect name for him, I like a few but nothing just pops out as perfect. .-.

I'll add photos as soon as I can get them off my camera. <3

I need some advice. I'm breeding my two holland lops this spring. Its the first time I've ever bred rabbits. Also my doe, Bailey is already 2 years old, will it be more difficult to breed her with him? When is the best time to breed them? How many kits do Hollands usually have?

We'll I breed holland lops so I may have some advice ^.^ deffinetly spring is a good time to breed most does will want to. As for age it is a little old, meny things could happen she could be fine or something may go wrong. Always expect something to go wrong even is everything seems fine. A possibility is that she may not lift you want the buck to grunt and fall off of her at least three times any less she may or may not take the breeding. Always breed at least 6-12 hours after the original breed so first thing in the morning the next day or just before you go to bed. Holland lop can have anywhere from 1 to 8. I just had a litter of six and last month a litter of 4 but I found two dead so I only got two. Something to always be aware of peanuts they will be born small with tiny ears and look different from the the others these kits are in developed and die usally within the first week. Peanuts are the result of getting two dwarf genes "DwDw" a normal dwarf is "Dwdw" so when you breed two dwarfs you always have a chance of peanuts. Hope this helped :D

Congrats on your new bunny! By your description, it sounds like he is a Black Otter color.

Try and make his pen time enjoyable by giving a few safe toys (safe wood blocks, toilet paper rolls, etc) and maybe give a treat when he gets in the pen? Try and notice what he likes and add that somehow to his pen.

We are going to screen in my balcony so the rabbits, cats, rats, and gerbils can use it :)
"I try twice as hard and I'm half as liked, but here they come again to jack my style."
In real life I have 4 dogs, 3 cats, 2 rabbits, 26 rats, 2 gerbils, 2 cockroaches, 1 turtle, 1 axolotl, and 8 fish.

When I was breeding Polish, I had 2 does (both a little over 2 years old). And also a wooly doe of mine that was almost 2.They had all never been bred before, but I gave it a shot. They each had big and healthy litters. They did great and had no complications. :) I've heard from quite a few people that they still have pretty good luck with this kind of situation... even with does up to about 3 years old. Anytime you breed, something can go wrong though. But it's still very possible that your HL doe could be successfully bred at her age.

Finally got some photos of my new boy! We've decided to go with Maxwell for his name, Max for short. This is entirely because I love catchy songs and I realized I could sing "Max and Lucy" to the tune of the Max and Ruby theme song bahaha..
He is such a handsome boy, I just adore his colors and how he looks like an orca when he lounges with his belly out. CX
The lighting on some of these stinks, sorry about that!

He's only been with us for three days, and I can already tell this guy is going to be a mischievous handful. He is sooo curious already, and already super comfortable with everything. He keeps wanting to venture further and climb on new things and get into everything. XD Once we find our little fold up pen to prevent him from dashing into something he shouldn't, he will be able to explore more and check out more of the house. CX
He's already extremely different from Lucy when we first got her, and I look forward to getting to know this fella more. CX He does have a tendency to nibble, something Lucy never did(though she does scratch) and that's something I'm definitely going to work on so he doesn't accidentally hurt anyone. P:
He's also a lot more comfortable in his pen now, no more whimpering! ^^

Any of you guys have any ideas on his breed(s)? We weren't told when we adopted him and I'm not keen in bunny breeds, so I'd love input from those of you who do know breeds! ^^
