What is the most interesting pet you have owned?

in high school, I had a pig that lived in the house and a number of chickens. this sounds normal, aside from the fact that my parents live in the middle of town.

although when I tell people about my pets, they’re usually bursting with questions when I talk about owning parrots. I think my blue and gold macaw (currently residing with my parents until the day I can own a home) usually piques the most interest.

Looks like a few people here have owned axolotls. They seem like an interesting pet, but aquarium setup and upkeep seems like a lot to manage!

I used to have a couple of Madagascar hissing cockroaches. People rarely enjoy them being mentioned, they're really not that bad. They can't even fly or anything, but everybody tends to have a very visceral reaction to roaches or simply bugs in general. Just like any other pet, they have to get used to you first! When you hold them, they'll crawl around a lot at first, but after they get to know you they'll calm down and just vibe

my grandpa caught me a mole once and we kept it in my backyard until it escaped. (i was like 9 i had no idea what it even was)

Didn't own it but I looked after a raven chick for the day! It was very interesting, also kinda scary, I felt like I was feeding a tiny dinosaur. Had to keep my fingers at a good distance. xD
Apart from that, most pets I've kept haven't been very interesting. Most are unaware of your existence and not very interactive, but fun to watch. I'd love to get an interactive pet that's easy to bond with. For now, I've got plenty of invertebrates, which are interesting but they're only awake at night so I miss most of the action, so sometimes I film them through the night.

The most interesting were my African Clawed Frogs! They were.. not intended. They were a "gift" and I new nothing about them but it was fun learning about them! They lives about 11 years ovo

I have owned two axolotls! Their names were Hades and Ragnar. I’ve unfortunately had to rehome them due to some things- I miss them dearly. But they were definitely some of the coolest pets I’ve owned!

I currently have an Axo named Hades! What colour was your guy? Mine is either a very dark wild-type or an axanthic...we can't seem to figure that out
