    @Taiger Lilly Best wishes for Olive!

    @Charlieluckytoby1 What a cute pair!

    We took Blue for a beautiful walk today. The breeze was so nice, and there was a ridiculous amount of grasshoppers lol. She also got to visit a farm and run around with their redbone coonhound, meet some chickens (which were startled by her sudden entrance into their coop), and just have a blast. Needless to say, she’s pooped out, which doesn’t happen very often (and I doubt it’ll last).

    Here are some pictures we took on the walk.

@doggas
Thank you, I appreciate it

@ru.
We were at the vet on Monday, they put her on antibiotics and said to watch it for a week. If it hasn't fixed itself by Tuesday she's getting it removed. No official diagnosis yet, but we were told it's most likely a histiocytoma. So nothing particularly alarming.
although I just found out my grandmother has terminal cancer so of course my anxiety-brain has decided this tumor has be cancerous too

We went for a nice walk on some ski trails today, it was super nice letting Olive offleash (and out of the cone), and we even tried some frisbee and she totally surprised me by following all the rules, even though I've been lazy and not actually properly taught her to fetch reliably.

Aaa I have some exciting news!! One of our danes,, Alistair is at 99.6 centimeters right now!! The world record for the worlds tallest living dog is 103.5 centimeters! This means Alistair is just 4 centimeters from being the worlds tallest living dog! Alistair also has a service dog brother, Chosin,, they're both a year and four months right now!! Great Danes typically grow until they're 3 years old, and the current record was made when the dog was 3 years old!
I think Mr. Alistair is going to be a record holder soon!! aa
I don't have any photos right now,, since my phone has been broken.
They're also blue great danes and they're so pretty?? I love em, Chosin is a goof ball, and Alistair is an attention hog.

    hello!! this is my first time posting on the thread<3

    i currently do not own any dogs, but i hope to get one in the near future. my mom said i can as long as i'm the one who covers most of the expenses, which i was totally fine with. however. her only other condition is that it stays completely outside, no indoor/house access. is that okay? if i got a great pyrenees, (i want a herding dog/dogs that are good with other animals and kids) would it be okay to stay outside? because i'm getting goats as well, i'm building a goat "house," would it be okay for it to stay there?

    @naomi - the only thing i worry about is the dog having limited access to things. you’d have to dedicate a lot of time to caring for the dog outside. think about the summers and winter and how much time you’d want to spend outside. great pyrenees are very hairy dogs and take a lot of grooming and can overheat easily so it would need access to water and shade, constantly. i would also purchase a small kiddie pool.

    i’m not saying this to be funny; i don’t have friends irl, so making time and going outside wouldn’t be a problem, we also have 30 acres of land so space also isn’t a problem. a kiddie pool would also be very easy for me to get, and as for shade, we have tons of trees around (we’re in a forest basically lol) and if it becomes necessary i can easily build an extension from the goat “house” for it to still be outside, but in the shade.

you never did own a dog....or when then not one of those working breed?? dont know how livestock guardian dog work :?:
why do you want such a dog then...to say it nice..this is crazy for first time owner...
(there are other dog who are not as dangerous when in wrong hands ...please think and learn about them more, see how they work at night or react to strangers when owner is not there to tell them to stay calm) and when you want it around Kids not living with you...then you really may need to Keep it part of the day in your house...

-maybe
- Puli (medium breed of Hungarian herding and livestock guarding dog, intelligent and active dog. It needs obedience training while still Young,without enough exercise can become mischievous and cause Trouble (but when they can guard animal over the day and sleep over night in the house all is alright^^) he right kind of exercise includes running, biking, hiking, jogging and field work; not just a walk around the corner. Pulis are best kept in a house with a garden or farm. Cozy and very friendly, especially towards children, but sensitive and prone to resentment when hurt or you are to loud, ...are obedient enough to train for athletic competition. They are devoted and form close bonds with their owners,are very protective of their master and territory. The Puli is sensitive, fun-loving, courageous, but also at times tough and headstrong.
They are loyal to their owners and wary of strangers. They are highly active and keep a playful, puppy-like behavior their entire life
, when you are good to them....but part house dog too when you want him to stay gentle with strangers)

-Bergamasco Shepherd (The Bergamasco is an alert, observant and patient dog breed with good self-control and balance. This breed is suited even as a guard and companion dog. The Bergamasco establishes close bond with his owner. Aggressive or overly shy behavior is a fault.... can compete in dog agility trials, obedience, showmanship, flyball, and tracking events. Herding instincts and trainability mean the dog can be trained to compete in herding trials. Although the Bergamasco is often photographed herding sheep, it is traditionally a cattle dog that performs well in a mountain environment. The cattlemen let their dogs go and they bring the herd back without human supervision)

-Aidi ( used as a livestock guardian, protecting herds of sheep and goats from strangers and animal predators... courageous, alert,become more common as a house dog...but also Needs to be in the house as much as possible when you want it to be nice with strangers children..... but they are a very sensitive breed, needs to be given appropriate gentle training from a very young age. needs to be exposed to as many social conditions as possible so that it makes an ideal family and animal pet .)

....those livestock guardian dogs can be dangerous, even for there owner, they will not accept punishment or to hard hand, when you say something they think is stupid they will not do it and go away or go to sleep,....when you hit them or are hard with them they may take it for some time but then they will put you in your place....when they become teen or adult they can fully change in character from gentle happy puppy to fierce protector where you eve has to be careful so no sneaking around silently at night or such,... and when you dont watch it and know how to handle and train such dogs in the right careful way...then dont even think about owning one!! it can work out well and you are happy with your dog with no problems.... but you can get real big problems.

sure you have land.... but how safe are the fences :?: are they fully closed and high enough, electric powered :?:
do you have neighbors( because this dogs bark at night, and not a silent bark, but also at day when strangers are near )?

and when you want them to guard the herd, then you need atleast 2 dogs, so they can do a good job and work together and are not so stressed when alone.

and let the dog sleep with the goat-....how big is the house and the paddock in front, how much light and air... you need to keep the barn clean with enough straw for the dogs
but they should be offered shade and protected places outside too, like the goats, and full time clean water.

and what do you mean with "outside only and to guard goat....and be good and nice with kids" strangers Kids too? :shock:
sorry to say this but that does not work....you have a dog to guard your home and animal.... or you have a kiddy save dog.....
when they - herd guardian- are fully outside all the time with no time stay in your family around strangers kids all the time since puppy.... with there herd they will only accept there handler near those maybe Family Kids who are outside with the each day too.....you can try to train them that they can be halfway alright with other human when you are with them or told them it is alright to just watch and stay calm( i know this from dogs who live partly in the house and part outside with herd or watching over home), but they should never go near them alone or at night or after dusk....

"the Great Pyrenees is naturally nocturnal and aggressive with any predators that may harm its flock( human are on this list too). However, the breed can typically be trusted with small, young, and helpless animals of any kind due to its natural guardian instinct"
confident, gentle (with children that are family), and affectionate, territorial and protective of its flock or family when necessary, its general demeanor is of composure and patience and loyalty.
It is a strong willed, independent and reserved breed. It is also attentive, quite fearless and loyal to its duties. very stubborn, and more or less lazzy......The Great Pyrenees' size makes it an imposing guardian. A dog of this breed will patrol its perimeter and may wander away if left in an unenclosed space (they will take the area around the home as theres). The Great Pyrenees protects its flock by barking till danger goes away, and being nocturnal, tends to bark at night unless trained against such behavior.

they are hard working working dogs....one dog will lead the herd away, the other dogs will bark and keep danger away and will attack with all they have when danger comes near and does not follow there barking to stay away.
Please klick them or they will die°°!!!
