Tips on how to build toy drive on a disc?
Also, how to teach a dog to fetch it? Blue fetches balls and other toys fine, but when she gets the disc she distracts herself by chewing on it/trying to pick it up the wrong way/accidentally dropping it.
She’s able to catch good throws so I think she’ll be good at it, but I’ve never done disc with a dog before so I’m kind of lost as to how I should work out these kinks... any advice is appreciated!
not so sure...our dogs are not so big in fetch of disc...
but maybe try it like some People do hen there dg does not bring the ball-toy or whatever they throw to catch
- put a small hole in the corner of the disc, put a light rope on it, then hold it in front of the dog to take, then let the dog catch the disc while you hold it...like you would with a tug rope or that, and later throw it to her while she sits in front of you, then a bit more away and so on till you can throw it and she catches it eeven when you throw it the other way of her and tell her to catch....the thin light rope is for the first training, so you have hold of it, and she can run of and chew or play with it.
- or put the thin long rope on your dog harness and use to catch your dog when she try to run and Play with the disc without you...then take the disc away nicely and try again in a different more interesting way...and when you run with the disc over a Meadow and dog trys to get it, till you throw it a Little bit in front and later more and more away...
i did read that disc Training can be real fun.
hope it could help a bit, and that you maybe tell what worked for you two...i really would love to know what Training one can do to teach a dog to catch disc
