Last summer I had a couple of neat animal encounters.
- I was out hiking and a black bear kinda just popped it's head out of the tall grass right next to me. Caught me by surprise but it was super cute. I stood my ground and waited for the bear to walk away before continuing on my journey cause I didn't want it to follow me for any reason.
- In that same summer I also just finished camping at Algonquin Park and was driving away when in the span of 5 minutes of driving, I saw a beaver swimming in a stream, a family of bears crossing the road (mom and two cubs), and two moose enjoying some leaves from the trees on the side of the road. I pulled over and got some cool pics of the moose. Anyways, I never felt more Canadian until that moment.
- Again, a hiking encounter when I found a porcupine. Thankfully no quills were lost that day.
- I was fishing and this massive snapping turtle swam up to me and started whining so I threw a worm for it to eat. It ate the worm and swam away. That boi was like half a meter long.
- Raccoon stole my food. Classic.
- I was kayaking and there was this loon that emerged from underneath the water right next to me. It started making those awesome haunting loon noises and I just love loon calls so mucchhh.
- Not exactly a sighting, more like hearing? I was camping at Algonquin Park again and nighttime in that campground is the greatest thing ever. Algonquin is known for it's wolf pack and if you're lucky you can hear them howl at night. I was lucky so I heard the howls of the wolves and it was so cool yet spooky. Also, loons like to scream at night. Combine loon calls with wolf howls and you get the best night of camping you've ever had.
