c: Nice. Make sure the place you get them from hasn't kept them with males or you'll end up with a lot more than 2. Unless you want babies.
What size tank do you have and is it cycled/cycling? :D

What are you naming them? If you don't already have a name, Lemon and Lime are cute!

:c Unfortunately 1 gallon is too small for any fish. You couldn't keep guppies in it. Even 2 gallons is a bit on the small side for a fish. 5 gallons is often the recommended minimum size for a betta or some guppies. They're surprisingly active and messy fish and like lots of space to swim around.
You'd be better off not getting a 1 gallon and if at all possible getting a 5 gallon for your betta as well as a heater and filter if you don't already have one. He'd appreciate the space and a 5 gallon is only very slightly larger than a 2 gallon so it should be easier to convince your mum.

Cycling is a method of preparing and maintaining a tank for fish. All fish produce waste in the form of ammonia. This is toxic to them and if left will cause them stress/harm and high levels will kill them. Luckily if you have a filter in your tank (which you should, pretty much all tanks need a filter) and a source of ammonia (bottled ammonia, fish food or the fish itself) a type of bacteria will grow that will 'eat' the ammonia and produce nitrite. This is also toxic to fish, but another type of bacteria will grow and 'eat' the nitrite to produce nitrate. This is much less toxic and can be removed with regular water changes.
This site explains fishless cycling: http://www.practicalfishkeeping.co.uk/f ... ss-cycling

There are things you can do with a 1 gallon, but please don't put any fish in there. You could get some nice plants and add some snails or a small colony of cherry shrimp c:

my mom dont want anythign bigger then 2 gallon :| but my betta fish got plenty of space to swim around even in his 1 gallon tank, he got thigns to play with :) and i give him a lot of attention so he's never bored.

i have a friend on a hrose game, Howrse, and she have a lot of animals and know a lot about them and she ahd a guppy, and she said i could get maximum 2 guppies in my 1 gallon tank, or 1 if i have A LOT of decoration and thigns so he can play with. and my mom really dont like shrimp...... i told her about it and her immeidate answer was NO, even for a 5 gallon tank she say its way to big, and when my mom amke her mind on somethign, as all parents, its quit impossible to convince them on something..

The difference between a 2 gallon and a 5 gallon is roughly 3 inches in width. But we can understand when someone says no to something.

:c Then your best option would be to just move your betta to a 2 gallon and not get any other fish. It wouldn't be fair for you to put fish in such a small space. It sucks when you want something and can't have it but you need to be mature and do what's best for the animals. That means not putting guppies or any fish in a 1 gallon tank. 1 gallon is too small for fish.
Your betta might seem happy in his 1 gallon but there's honestly such a huge difference when you see a fish in a bigger tank with a filter and heater. They have brighter colours and they're much more active. A lot of people think bettas just sit about not doing much, but they're very active and curious fish and can be all over their tank all the time. Guppies are the same. The ones we used to have in a 15 gallon zoomed all over the place. Space to swim makes fish happy. You can decorate a tank as much as you want, but they need room to swim. And while some types of fish might recognise and interact with you, they need swimming space and stable water more than they need to see you.
Try reading through this: https://pethelpful.com/fish-aquariums/W ... Betta-Fish It's about bettas but it applies to any fish you want to keep in a 1 gallon. You might want to show it to your mum as well.
Or come to the fish lovers thread: viewtopic.php?f=44&t=2449749 Lots of people there keep or kept bettas and there's loads of useful advice on the first page. Keeping fish is more involved than throwing one in a bowl with water like lots of people think but it's really rewarding and you can end up with a beautiful tank if you do it right c:

yes i know 1 gallon is small, when i was 6 i had 2 goldfish in it my mom bough for me but they died after 2 months, we never knew why, but i think its because goldfish when they are in small tank will stop growing, which will make them problem to the vessie and then they will like float and they will get exausted trying to swim down and they will get sick and die.. but i didn't know that my tank was a 1 gallon untel last month so since im saving, i have 25$ not to touch ofr a tank and rest of money is for the vet of my cat who had an urinary infection. my mom really only want 2 gallon maximum. but Puff is happy in 1 gallon because he never knew anythign bigger, at the pet store he was in a 5 cm (they really only have 5 cm large and 3 cm high, with other pot like that with other betta all close to each other) and i see dead betta in the pots often :( so to him he already got like a lake, and 2 gallon will be even bigger to him. Puff is very active in his tank, he go play with his plants, try to eat the bubbles he see, and as soon as he see me come in the room he comes and almsot run in the window because he's so exited :D i bough him a castle 6 months ago and at night he go sleep in it! but there is a seconde hand store and they have tank often, but 10 gallon one and my mom really dont want these, but ill look and if i see one of 2 gallon (or 3 gallon ill try to show her its little) ill buy it and if i see a seconde one if my om say yes ill take it. i think this week we'Re going to the palce the seconde hand store is so ill ask her if we can stop.
