Hey there! I'm Chicken Bron, but you can just call me Bron! I currently live in Australia in the suburbs. As you can tell by now, I'm obsessed with chickens, and just birds in general! My faves have to be chickens, pigeons, turkeys and emus. I also have a deep fascination for genetics, and I weirdly love to study it in my free time. I hope to one day be a chicken or pigeon breeder, where my two favourite things collide. I'm also a big roleplayer, and love joining in on roleplays!

i'm so glad that I stumbled upon this thread! I have a few questions regarding the dominance of certain genes and I can't seem to find the answers anywhere. c:

so hypothetically, i was wondering what genes would be passed along to the kits of two cats possessing the following genes. (forgive me if i'm not making any sense, i have very little knowledge when it comes to this sort of thing.)

    parent number one:
    black base color
    mackerel tabby
(basically meant to be a brown cat with mackerel tabby markings.)

    parent number two:
    black base color
    white muzzle and paws.
(pretty self explanatory, i don't know any technical terms here.)

to my understanding, the agouti and white markings are both dominant over solid colors. so i'm pretty sure that their kits would be brown mackerel tabbies with white muzzles and paws, right? that's okay, but i was just wondering if there are any other possible outcomes. like, if a gene is dominant, does that mean it has to be passed along or just that it's more likely to be passed along? could they be solid black or something? also, could a kit carry the dominant genes without showing them on their fur? c:

Guessing you mean torties, these cats are OoB_ meaning they have two colours a O0 is all ginger, the color patches are random but tend to be larger if the cat has white

It would come down to there genes
Cat 1 - B_T_
Cat 2 - B_W_
(Note my notes are not with me so the letter might be wrong)

As you can see we are missing info, all kittens are likely to be black baced but we need the second part to know for sure, if I remember right this gives them a 75% chance

As for tabby it again depends on the genes , if cat 1 is TT all kittens will be tabby but if Cat 1 is Tt (t in this case means no stopes/solid) then if I remember right the kittens would be 25% chance of tabby , this can also be applied to white spotting

I'll cheak my work once I get my notes and edit if Iv worked it out wrong

i need a new signature
