Welcome to Rabbit Owner Chat V.2! Please come in and talk all things rabbit! This group welcomes any pet owners, as well as people who raise show rabbits or have them in a farm setting. All 4-H, ARBA and FFA members welcome. If you are looking into getting a rabbit in the future and just have questions, we welcome you too! If you have any ideas for the thread, please message me!

Rules/Guidelines
When chatting, please try to stay on topic. Rabbits, rabbits, rabbits. Please be kind and respectful of different opinions and views. There isn't one exactly right way to do anything. So let's all be friendly here! Also, remember that we are not all veterinarians. If you need serious medical advice for your pet, you may need a professional opinion from a vet. We are glad to help with minor issues though! And as always, follow all the CS rules for chatting in the forum!


About Me:
I started raising rabbits in 4-H back in 2004. I've dabbled in many breeds, but concentrated mostly on Jersey Woolies and Polish. I showed in many ARBA shows and conventions in Michigan. I had to sell out in 2016 after 12 years of raising rabbits for a few personal reasons. I miss it, but I now have a few rabbits that I just keep as pets!

1. A female rabbit is called a doe.
2. A male rabbit is called a buck.
3. A young rabbit is called a kit (or kitten).
4. Rabbits have 28 teeth!
5. Rabbits are born with their eyes closed and without fur. Hares are the opposite!
6. Domestic rabbits have a life expectancy of about 7 to 10 years.
7. Adult rabbits (depending on breed) can weigh 1.5 to 20+ pounds.
8. Rabbits are NOT rodents. Rabbits are in the family Leporidae of the order Lagomorpha.
9. Rabbit ears aren't just for listening! They also help regulate body temperature.
10. Most rabbits don't make good pets for small children, because they often kick/scratch when scared or not fully supported when being picked up.

Have fun. lol Usually easier if they are both neutered, if you haven't done that already. I've had to break up some fights between boys and it's no fun for anybody. They hopped over a divider in a carrier, with a rabbit between them too. xD When I was actively showing, I didn't even like housing boys next to each other sometimes... toes would go missing... lips bitten.

I lurked on the old thread but I'm planning to post more here.. my rabbits are Leo (flemish giant), Kodiak( English Lop), Pepper,Misty, and Agua (Polish) and Nina, Ashes, Little Bird (Littles), Nightmare and Firefly (Holland Lops). We also have Fuzzbucket (Lionhead mix), and Gem (Polis)
