rottweiler's!! ahh their such loyal dogs, and are protective over their family. they can be incredibly funny and they tend to "purr" (at least from the Rottweiler's I've had.) they aren't that hard to train, and are also very good guard dogs!!

also a couple more I've had before
damnation
cane corso (v similar to Rottweiler's attitude)
and some other dogs!
corgis
greyhounds,,
German shepherds,
and dobermans ;^;

i recommend border collies and australian shepherds for their keen intelligence and ability to pick up on so many things. they have to be trained at a young age, otherwise you'll be dealing with a very stubborn doggo as they grow older. keep them occupied or they'll become mischievous. but overall, they're a joy to have and will please you more than they'll ever disappoint you.

labrador retrievers are also great companion dogs, because they tend to adapt to your routine no matter what it may be. they can be couch potatoes, active dogs, or both depending on your lifestyle. they're one of the more intelligent breeds and are very aware of their surroundings.

i've had rotties in the past, and they're great dogs, but let me tell you, you have to be willing to give them lots of attention (based on experience). they're definitely not for everyone, but if you're willing to take on the responsibility, here are some things to keep in mind: they're very smart but can be quite stubborn, they're loyal to no end, and they have a quirky personality.

those are my recommendations!

my favourite breeds (in no particular order) are border collies, border terriers, boston terriers, staffordshire bull terriers, english bull terriers, rottweilers and scottish deerhounds. pretty eclectic tbh, but i love smarter dogs (the only exception on my list being english bull terriers which tend to be of lower intelligence) the only one i would never recommend would be boston terriers because of their brachycephaly and I would never encourage anyone to seek out a dog with issues like those. collies are probably my overall favourites because they're the breed i've been around since i was little, but there's something about terriers that win me over.

i saw a deerhound up for adoption near where i live and my heart skipped a beat, he was called dude and is 10 years old, i'd give anything to have his as a part of my family but it seems like he has a strong prey drive and my family have a cat.

My all time favorite breed is the Pekingese. Affectionate, courageous, stubborn and not an eager to please breed, I still love everything about them. Pretty little dogs who aren't afraid to get dirty. They have short bouts of energy, but other than that, they're fine with lazing around and cuddling up to you. Great for apartment life. They have bossy attitudes and have to be top dog, they don't care about their size. I can see myself owning a pack of pekingeses in the future!!

And then the APBT, a true game dog with endless energy. Great for hikes and long mile walks, loyal and affectionate. Lots of space needed because they love to run around and be active. They're not for everybody because a true APBT has a high chance of being dog aggressive and everybody can't handle that. But for those who can, they're awesome dogs!!

My dog had such low drive when I first got him. I started building it by bringing out his favorite things when it was time for training, so that he only got X toy or Y treat when it was agility time, and he only got those things from me. This really helped.
Also, tugging can really help build drive!

Please help!

We're stuck on pivoting. I have watched so so many tutorials on how to train rear end awareness and pivoting. Lucky can put his front paws on a step or stool and then i try to lure him so that he'll move his back legs. He gets confused and steps off and doesn't move at all. He only moves his head/nose and his front paws... :c

I have a soft spot for terriers, the dog I grew up with was a Fox/Cairn mix. But, thanks to my Chloe, I've fallen quite in love with Chinese Cresteds. Loving, attentive, entertaining, and so incredibly soft and warm to pet (the hairless). I love the feathers on the hairless and the way she trots like a show pony. Also they tan during the summer. What other dog tans and gets spots in the summer?

In general though I prefer rescues of any breed. Whatever fits your family will be the best breed/mix ever.

How my trainers teach it is get the dog to "step up" on the stool with front feet, stand beside your dog so your legs are even with the body (you are standing behind the stool). Hold a treat in front of the dogs nose and and as you "lure" the dogs front end to follow the treat "push his/her's body/back feet with your legs in the opposite direction. At every back foot movement reward your dog with a "yes/good boy/(or whatever word you use for verbal reward)". Maybe start with getting your dog to only pivot 1/4 way around with small breaks and slowly (or fast) increase the distance around the stool. Just remember to food reward, or play reward at the end of back foot movement.
So an example (if my description is not fully understood): I would ask my dog to step up, holding a treat just in front of her nose I would bring my hand toward me and push her back feet away from me with my legs. If my dog was a little unsure I would only ask her to pivot 1/4 way around the stool before stopping for a little break then start again. I would verbal reward each small back foot pivot movement and reward big when I ask for a finish. If she steps off the stool I would just ask her to step up and try again, but maybe reward sooner, so 1/8 way around the stool. (hopefully you understand all that).
