Fleas aren't that bad, though. Thankfully, everyone in my little pack has a great flea collar (darn things are $80 each for 8 months). They work amazingly! But with no winter, everyone is stilling coming back with little seed ticks. The deer ticks aren't that bad, only see a few of em. But when they get in for the night, everyone gets a good once over to grab any ticks off em. Most of the time, by the time they get to me, the ticks are dead, but still. I just don't know what to do. Talked to their vet and she said there was pretty much nothing we can do besides prevention, and she agrees that we are doing a good job there. Just tired of seeing my little ones covered in ticks. They love to get under Jake's muzzle and in his pits. Ready for summer to be over so that ticks can die down a bit!
Okay... end rant. XD sorry about that, just so tired of ticks.

I use this... http://shop.mercola.com/product/269/1/flea-and-tick-defense-8-oz-per-bottle-1-bottle to prevent ticks getting on Chloe in the first place. The only times I've caught a tick on her was when I didn't put it on. Of course we don't go into tick infested area a lot to begin with so I can't really tell if the product is good or we're just lucky.

I often wish we owned a farm so I could buy a guenia hen to eat up ticks. Short of that though I don't have any good suggestions. I hated having to pull two ticks off Chloe, I can't imagine having to do a lot of them.

Is his tail docked?? I know a lot of people think it's unethical, mostly pet owners, most poodles do have their tails docked, especially show poodles. Due to the poodle standard, their tail should 'never be curled or carried over the back', and a poodle naturally has a curled over tail, so docking stops it from being long enough to curl over.

I, however, love love loovee poodles with a cute curled over tail!! Little poodle tail pompoms are also very cute, I can appreciate both c:

i agree that the curled over tails in poodles are adorable! unfortunately, his is docked because his breeder does shows and stuff. i don't mind, tho.

@Luzien: We use the seresto (I think I spelled that right) 8 month flea collars. They're not cheap, but they work so much better than the monthly flea pills we were getting. Before this summer, Id rarely see ticks on them, hardly ever. Some of the ticks are still alive, but I'd figure it only takes a few hours to kill most of the seed ticks.

And for Jas's harnesses, here they are:

Of course the purple is his puppy one XD The head hole barely goes over his nose now! He's new one is great! All padded and soft. He loves it, loves putting it on.

@Imzadi83: Thanks! I may have to give something like that a try! My babies wonder off into the woods all the time. Though, Pup, who just stays in the yard, she doesn't leave, ends up with ticks, too.

hullo everyone ! i'm super excited for my brand new addition.
tomorrow, i'm heading up the road to pick up my 7 week old puppy, a Scottish terrier named Atticus ( xX ). he has a nice set up in my sun room, which will be blocked off from the rest of the house temporarily. i've also set up a crate, doggy bowls, and a few toys laid to the side for his entertainment. i pretty much dog-proofed the room and am ready to lay out some dog pads.
now of course i didn't just come here to ramble on about everything. i need some help with names. he's just a puppy, so renaming him will be easy. i like the name he has, but am considering other names with easier "call names", as you could say. i've got Fergus, Angus, Mangus, Oliver, and Archibald ( Archie ). Fergus, Angus, and Mangus are all names i could use the call name "Gus", which i particularity love. i'm just stuck with so many ideas and need help to narrow down my list. anyone have suggestions?
also if anyone owns/owned a Scottish terrier, feel free to give me some much needed advice! i've owned other dogs in the past, but never a Scottish terrier. i've done my fair share of research and hope i have a good amount of information, but i'd love personal advice. thank you c:

another question
so my dog does this thing where half of the time he will keep his leg up in the air, you would think hes limping or maybe broken his leg but hes completely fine and can walk and run on it just fine, hes broken his leg before but i have no idea if thats the same leg, and it was a while ago, it healed

should i be worried? or is this just a thing he does
