This is my first dog, and neither my brothers nor mom have owned one. My dad did, yet that was when he was much younger. Nonetheless, this is my first pup. I would like maybe some advice to treating her on her first day, potty training and such?
Thank you :3
They are supposedly the second smartest doggo breed and have long life spans and such but I still need some advice.Alma
only two days until the awaited Friday! I really need advice for Alma's frost couple of days...
awww poodle are cute, i sadly only know two toy a middle and some large poodle a little bit from meeting them on walks or with my old groomer where i did go now and then when we did still go to dog Shows.... they are lovely and funny!
i did write about potty trainig a page back so you can look at it, hope it helps, when not ask, i try bether...
(talk with your Family who will bring her out when at night and day to those hours, so that you get work done and each enough sleep

and with whome she will sleep till she is fully houseroken and gets to sleep for 6h without needing to go out!!)
first days....hmm...is some year ago now but i can try:) when something is unclear what i did write just ask here or in a message^^
hópe this helps ateast a little
Do you aleady own all things needed?
feed and water bowl, a dog bed for the room one for the dog crate, maybe even a Little dogplaypen to put infront of the dogcrate where you can bring the Girl when you Need to go out for a Moment or cat wattch her for some minutes....
brushes, comb, feed wet and dry, towel, some toys, Supplement for puppys, first aid kit, leash collar, long training leash (10-20m), and such
cleaning supplies for your home:
like OXY Pet Stain Remover - Carpet Cleaning with Oxygen Power - Clean Tough Spots and Stains with Ease - Carpets, Rugs, Upholstery, and Laundry
Pet Stain & Odor Remover, Enzyme Cleaner, Odor Eliminator, Best Carpet Stain Remover, Pet Odor Eliminator, Stain Remover, Odor Neutralizer
or such....but try to use natural, puppy healthy cleaner!
( accidents can always happen and to clean up any stain or odor is best or she will go there again^^)
and what ever else you may need^^
- we had a crate for each of our two puppy with a soft dog bed inside and a cuddly blaket and a soft toy...
and a blanket to cover part of it to make a dog-den (we had those large wire dog crates that you can fold down and use on Shows or travel...they are nice airy and big for them to stay in over night or at Show and turn aroun without Problem even when adult....)
--> they had outside also a place (a not to expensive but still good dog bed as they sometimes chew while playing when still puppys^^) to sleep over the day
- dont do to much at the first days, just show her your home, and where she should not go in, all done calmly
---> but first off go asap as soon as you are home and out of the car, to the place she should go pee and such and let her do her thing^^ so she knows where the place is for her potty, when you do it well and go there all the time she will accep the place and will not do it everywhere in your Yard or pasture you use....
( you aleady do start the training with this place showing for sleep and toilet and rules in home, and pee times, and Play or calm down times.....the puppy Needs to sleep still often over the day, so Show him that she can and Needs to calm down now and then and when you sit next to her or let her sleep in her dog bed next to you or someone from your Family when you sit somewhere^^)
- maybe play a little but not to much and to wild, you even could try a short walk near your home and also Show her where she can do pee and where not...but no Problem when a accident happens she will learn.
- at the first day they often can be a bit unsure and look for her mother or siblings, but dont react to every whinny or bark of her, just watch her look at her new home and learn your dayly working
So the best Thing is to make a list:
- what items you have- or still Need to buy
- rules for dog and Family ( commandos too, you all must do the same, same words for all commandos ...and not that one accepts the dog maybe in the kitchen or the bed and the other says no...the dog would go crazy,
)
- feeding times are too important...the breeder should have the puppy at 3-4 times each day ( when possible always at the same time!)....so stay to it for some weeks, then maybe go down to 3 times a day and later 2 times when old enough....
- pee time is also a must do....like i did write on the page back
- look for a dog place, and go to there puppy training-this is fun and help the puppy go along with other breeds of Dogs and other People too
,..... but i think it is good for a first time owner to look for a good trainer, a puppy Group on a og place, a nice dog park, ....and also try to walk now and then with other dog owner who have a well trained dog....dog playing together is good too....
(my girl had a old Nefi male to play with and her "sister" dog)
social training is a to do thing- go now to new places, try out new thing, but do so slowly and with care and always calm and gentle, calm voice and sure movements....when dog is unsure about a new thing like maybe an umbrella sit it down and sit next to it calling your puppy to you and praise ever step to you, also can do as if you play with the new thing touch it whatever as if ist a fully normal Thing and nothing where you think that the puppy may be unsure.so when this was to unlear or you dont understand something, just ask.
and the other dog owner will help you too and can tell you what they did at the first days
