Any tips for keeping a rough collie cool?

We have agility class for an hour every Saturday and I was looking at ways to keep him cool whilst training. I can't buy a cool coat / cool bandanna, and I'm not exactly sure how I can keep ice cubes in my treat pouch for an hour.

Any suggestions? [also I tried soaking a bandanna but it would always come off whilst he was running]

I've been feeling pretty sad recently and I get dizzy easily. I just don't feel like walking him.

A dog needs a walk no matter how you feel, if you cant walk get someone else to its not fair on him to loose out on a walk and if he needs to loose weight its doubley important.
The walk should also help you when I get depressed over something walking the dogs helps me clear my head as I'm stewing in my own sadness. If you get dizzy talk to someone it could be medical.

its not really good.
could you atleast throw toys for him to run after so he is worked a bit more , give him things to search....maybe a ball launcher-a automatic ball launcher could be nice....

or maybe find someone to walk your dog, one of your Family-friends... or even bether get a professional dog walker, or day care for dogs....or buy a treadmill and let your dog atleast walk-run on it to get some exercise....or give your dog away when it goes on for month.
but first go to your doc and ask for help when you get dizzy it could be blood pressure or to much heat. but when ist not health Problem or such, but the own whatever then this helps sometimes : give your self a kick and throw yourself out with your dog, and when you offer yourself something nice for after the walk....like a chocolate bar when you did go for a nice looooong dog walk for over 1-2h atleast ;)
Please klick them or they will die°°!!!

Maybe you could try soaking a towel then putting it in the freezer. You could then bring that towel with you to the training session. You can cool him down with that in between courses. I have never actually tried this myslef but I have alot of friends who say this is a great option if you cant buy a cool coat or bandana. They always bring cool towels when they go competing in hot weather.
Slowly getting back into CS after being on a 2 year hiatus, nice to meet you all again!

I don't think it's the end of the world if he misses out on one walk every once in a while, but if it's a frequent thing, then yeah, it's not great. :c

Can anyone else walk him for you? Lucky's a border collie, right? He probably has quite a bit of energy he needs to burn off so even if you can't walk him it's always good to give him something energetic to do.

    -------

We just got back from a short holiday with Lyra, she did so well for how anxious she can be. Poor dog had to go on a 6 hour boat ride over windy seas, and before that she was in a car for 3-4 hours. I'm proud of her though, she had to spend a lot of time in a house filled with children and she did so well considering how scared she can get - she even let one of the little boys pat her and was comfortable with it, which is a huge step in her confidence - not to mention she had to get back on the boat and do it all again yesterday morning, poor thing's tuckered out now - she did get a six mile walk around the island and got to play in the sea so she was quite happy.

How do I go about getting JJ tested for food intolerance? I'm calling the vet later, and I wanna know what to expect.

Also, my mom is making her spay appointment :/ I really wanted to wait longer. Like, a lot longer.

Thanks. I took him on an hour walk with my friend and her dog, Buddy (Lucky's best friend) . I don't feel as sad now.

The dizziness is medical. I have a chronic disease that makes me feel sick and dizzy alot

I'm starting to doubt that any of this training is gonna work with Jasper. Progress is slow and it seems like every time he learns and behaves a bit better some incident happens outside that's out of my control and all the progress is undone. I know there's a lot of dogs around here and it's unpredictable when their owners bring them out or when owners decide their dog should be off leash and allowed to wonder up to people. Though what motivates people to purposely turn and walk their dog in my direction to pass us when they can clearly see and hear that Jasper is wearing a muzzle and whining at the top of his lungs and I'm trying to walk quickly away with him? There are many other directions to take your dog, why choose to follow us? I signed him up for this class that's to help with his behavior around other dogs in a couple weeks and I fear he's not gonna be ready. I took him out a little while ago and there was 3 dogs out front and he could barely handle that, being in a class around 3 other dogs sounds impossible. I know the other dogs in the class act the same as Jasper and the trainers have been holding this class for many years with plenty of success but I'm still worried anyways, Jasper's very intelligent but also very stubborn. He learns quick but will only listen when he chooses to.

I just looked down at the floor.

I guess I'm having both of my dogs sleep in my room tonight.

Thor and Lilly are cuddling on her blanket right now.
