Thanks! Burrs and sticks love her plush coat too, lol. And that's one way I haven't heard Lily described yet! I've also heard Blue and Grey, both seem the same on google. Dilute looks to be a little different maybe? But yes, that's her coloring c:

Haha dilute is mainly genetic speak, it just means she's got the usual coat colours, but they look more washed out.

And ohh I know, grooming a plush is so much fun, at work we have 2 plush shiloh shepherds and grooming them after they go for runs in the field is like a scavenger hunt of "Where the heck did you even find this stuff??"

emberheart. wrote:Hello Everyone! My name is Ember. I'm in the process of coming back from a hiatus, and in doing so I'm trying to branch out a little bit into different parts of Cs so I don't get bored again! Dogs are my life, as cliche as that sounds, so what a better thread to start out on than the dog thread? I'm knowledgeable in most dog breeds/behaviors (I've been working at a dog daycare/spa/boarding facility for a year and a half with just about every dog breed you can think of) and I'm somewhat knowledgeable in dog foods as well as other general dog stuff and breeding. I also live with a grand total of 8 dogs, though only two are fully mine.

Speaking of mine, meet Elektra and Lily! Lily is a loving mama grey Pocket Beagle (mini beagle) and Elektra is a reactive Sable German Shepherd

Image belongs to me, we also run two dog blogs that document our adventures ^^ So uh, yeah! I'd like to meet all of you guys and your beautiful canines c': Maybe I can give some advice along the way if you guys don't mind c: (ps I love that photo of Daffy on the front page, I've followed her owner on social media for years! She even reviewed Elektra's structure for me ^-^)

Also, to answer the above question, Chihuahuas don't come in wirehair, only smooth and long coat

You have a couple of gorgeous gorgeous pups! I haven't seen many blue Beagles, but Lily is lovely. :') I've got a long haired shepherd as well - my girlie, Eva! Image

She is SSA for the most part, but gets along wonderfully with males.

We also have a male miniature poodle mix named Deebee, and a Belgian Malinois named Spike. :')

@Roman'sGirl Hey there! I'm sure your two are lovely, I haven't met many black shepherds, and Elektra's best friend is a white shep c:

@MiniTaxiderMiss Ah, that's probably why I haven't heard it. I don't know many people who know genetic terms~ And you wanna talk about a scavenger hunt? Once I took Elektra to the dog park near my house (think a giant, empty grassy field with no dogs) and let her play in the river after, and she came home with a fish hook in her fluff! Thank god it didn't poke her, I can only imagine what she could have caught.

@Haagen-Daagen Aww thanks! Lily graciously accepts the complement. Usually people just comment on how chunky she is lol (And she's working on it so it hurts her feelings :'c) Eva is really gorgeous! As is your Mali, I have a soft spot for them c: They both look very intelligent. And Deebee looks cute too! cx Very handsome in his jacket

Can someone suggest some jobs for a small dog? Lacey's 11 months old, (bichon frise) but she's extremely active and hyper. She's already getting into agility and I'm starting to do some nose work with her. I also do heel work and basic obedience everyday for about 2 hours, sometimes more if it involves teaching her tricks. She's really really active. You could take her out on a 4 hour walk, and she'd want to do double it. When summer comes, we'll be doing lots of agility and doing competitions with her too, can't wait!

Does she play fetch? I know it sounds kinda weird for a small dog to play fetch but when I first got my puppy, I taught her fetch really young with the small tennis balls they sell. Another thing to consider, is within the next couple of years, she will start to settle down some. Just keep up with the exercise is my only solution. You are doing good. Just some pups have way more energy than others. One last thing, if she is not spayed yet and you are not going to breed her or show her in shows where she needs to be intact, that is an option to calm her down some. Every dog my family has had spayed or neutered has calmed down at least a little after the surgery.

Yep! I take her out onto a big field a couple times a week to play fetch for an hour or so. She doesn't have much interest in it, but I've noticed that she's more eager to do obedience, tricks, etc if I reward her with a toy, rather than with treats.
She is spayed since she was 6 months old I believe. She doesn't seem to have calmed down with it, seems like she's gotten more hyper, haha! I often call her my little collie because of her energy.

You could teach her to fetch things for you, small remotes, phones, etc.

Can food allergies occur after they've been on the same food for months? JJ is having an allergic reaction to something (pretty mild; small, itchy hives), but her food hasn't been changed in a while. Her food is also grain free because both her parents are allergic to grain, so it's not that.

It's possible, but has anything else changed? Even with your stuff?

Anyone have any tips on how to stop a dog from jumping onto doors and such when you go to unlock the front door?

My dog Loli (German shepherd) keeps jumping onto the wall and the door whenever I come back from somewhere and go to unlock the door. It's getting to the point where she's scraping off the paint from the wall and damaging it quite a bit. I really don't want to keep buying paint and new wall filling just because she keeps damaging it with her paws.
