bettas are usually alot more hardier fish and can survive in smaller tanks then goldfish as they dont grow as large or make as much waste, they also dont require a air pump like other fish
common goldfish are really better as pond fish as you would need atleast a 6 foot tank for the 9 of them, also cycling a tank can take upto a month
