Well you could get a male betta and put some other fish in with him. I don't know exactly what you can put in with him but one of the other members can tell you. Or you could put dividers in the tank and have a few male bettas in there. I "think" you could do a female betta sorority. Again you would have to ask the other members about that. Snails, shrimp. Thats all on the top of my head.

I've got one balloon molly in a 10 gallon tank, all by himself as his two other pals got too close to the filter or got stuck under one of the plants.

I'd rather not get more balloon mollies but then, she shouldn't be alone...

See if a petstore will either buy him from you or give you store credit for another fish?

@gemini you could get small community fish like.....tetras, danios, mollies, plattys, or something like that. Maybe like a dwarf gourami or a betta. You could probably even have a betta and a school of neon tetra. There are a lot of possibilities! :D

@meung balloon mollies don't necessarily school like other fish. They can do just fine with guppies, plattys and other fish as their friends :3

The only two pet shops around here is a petsmart and a very local one that doesn't take fish... and i'm not sure about the store credit.

But thank you.

And I wasn't aware that they didn't have to school...

I'd say keep him, and get some other fish with him. They will hang out with other mollies, but they do just fine with other fish, especially guppies and plattys

Does anyone else have some freaky deformed fish? I have a Ryukin with a dip in his back which caused his dorsal fin to look like a unicorn horn! And a black moor with one telescope eye, and one normal eye like this :what: xD

Neon tetras are usually good with bettas because they won't nip at the fins and are very docile schooling fish. Be careful about multiple females, some can be more territorial as the males, so if you get multiple have a divider just in case. I'm pretty sure you could split the tank in half with a divider and have two males in there, you just have to be sure the divider doesn't have anything a fish could slip through. I personally spoil my betta, she's in a 20 gallon by herself since she refuses to be around other fish. I focused on making the tank look beautiful with different plants and decorations but remember any plants and decorations you put in can't be sharp or rough since it might tear the fins and make scales rub off.

Blue's doing better stress wise. If I turn on my light she and turn in off within five minutes she's fine. I'm still trying to push toward going to a pet store this week to get a light for her tank and get a 30 gallon for some goldies. I keep getting distracted away from goldfish by cremecicle lyretail mollies. Why must mollies look so cute and beautiful? Maybe I just have to find the right goldfish to fall in love with goldfish again. I swear, there's too many beautiful fish out there and there's not enough money and not enough tanks to keep them.

I wake up and check on Conall to find he extended his nest and has spread his eggs out throughout the huge thing. He's going to be hustling back and forth when they hatch and start falling. lol

xD lol! I love to rescue the weird ones :3

Well, the gourami died. I'm still unsure what happened? Maybe he got caught on the filter?

So I put the last lot of salt in this morning and it looks like pretty much all the spots are gone
which I was quite suprised about as I expected it to get worse before it got better
how long should I leave the salt in for before doing a tank clean?
