My tiniest goldfish started to get white stuff on him two days ago. I figured it was fungus, I put in a packet of meds and thre teaspoons of salt. All the other goldies were fine. Yesterday he seemed a bit better. Today he was weaker and the gourami had chewed his fins down. He couldn't swim. I couldn't watch this, so I set up the other 15 gallon in a rushed panic and the second it was done he passed away...... I was worried the other goldfish might catch it too, so I moved the gourami into the tank. Now he is very scared. I don't know if this will benefit or if it's pointless and doing more harm to him than good. The tanks will be going in the new room Saturday as a definite. The goldfish will go into the 75 gallon and he will go back to the 15. Should I just leave him in the other tank or put him back before he dies of stress or something?

My gosh what a night!

..I was doing a weekly water change in my ten gallon tank, and as usual, I made sure to check the water in the bucket that I sucked up, just in case anything popped up!

...to my surprise, I had danio fry in there!

I of course then spent the next... hour and a half... attempting to get some very, very stubborn fry out of a large bucket with a fine mesh fish net and a turkey baster.

I ended up with five! XD this is... actually very nice. I suspect they are the fry from my favorite two danios, my male Leopard Danio and my female long-finned gold danio, who died just today X-x mysteriously, as always. May she rest in peace. But I want to raise her fry to adulthood, at least. I really do.

Any tips are appreciated! I'd bought some first bites just in case something like this happened weeks ago XD Currently the five fry are in a small half gallon tank, but I have a three gallon that can be set up easily at need.

Guys-

My bettas are all going to be in 2 gallon or larger tanks by the end of the weekend. I'm looking for tankmates for them. I have a weird kit for a frog that's supposedly seethrough? Anyways, there's a link here. I'm ordering that and was wondering if it'd be OK with the betta. The book on the frog says it'll be fine, but I dunno if the betta will kill it or not.

I was also thinking snails, but I need two other kinds of creatures.

Not sure about male Bettas, but my female betta lives with a tetra and it's her best buddy! My Bettas have always hated PLECOS for some reason, but they tolerate them. My betta also lives with long fun danios, though I think short fins would be better since my betta nips them when she is really upset. She also lives (temporarily) with an algae eater and they are ok. She also lives with balloon mollies but she doesn't like them much she flares at them but doesn't hurt them. She used to have a coolie loach in her tank but he is missing, though I know she didn't hurt him

The frog and betta are a definite no go. The frog is sub tropical and the betta is tropical. The frog will eventually get as big as the palm of your hand, and will eat your betta. I had a grow a frog for twelve years. I actually own two now x3 On the snail: Mystery snails would go good with bettas, and I'd guess that nerites would go well with the frogs.

It might have been stress coat coming off, from well, stress. At this point it is hard to tell since the poor guy is dead but it being stress coat is my guess since 1. you do have stressful conditions at this moment and 2. none of the other goldies had it. Keep a close eye and if it shows up on the other fish take a pic and post it. It was a good idea to separate the gourami. He will eventually calm down and will be less stressful than being in the tank with the goldies. I highly recommend keeping him there until the other tanks are set up.
