Today me and my mom went and got a few fish for my pond out in the back. We usually go to Walmart to get some 19 cent goldfish, but the fish at Walmart were definatly not being cared for, at least, there were little dead fish floating at the top and bottom of the tank, and the half-alive fish drifting in the middle. We decided to go to the local fish store, where we got three pretty fish. I don't remeber what they were called, but I think they're related to goldfish.
Anyways, we got home and checked to see if the fish where ok, and they were, so we started cleaning up the pond (We take out all the water in the winter, although snow and leaves had fallen into it and it looked and smelled disgusting.) We got ready to set the bag into the water, so the tempurature could adjust. Maybe, an hour later, we cut open the bag to let out our fish and discovered the prettiest fish, my favorite, had died.
We called back to the store and they said we could come get anouther, so my mom did.
I now love all my brand-new fish, and I hope and pray we'll wake up tommorrow and find them safe and sound.
Our newest one, the one we had to replace, I nicknamed Trickster, because he's the funniest and silliest of all the fish. Of the other two, the orange one is the shyest, and loves a corner of the pond, and the other one likes to eat.

I hope to also get a Beta soon, so does anyone have any tips?

betta fish are a bit complicated to take care of, I own three myself and if you take care of them well then they can live for years (: make sure the water is between 74-80 degrees. A betta does better in a good sized tank, maybe about 2 and a half gallons and up, males are best left in a tank by themselves though females can live in groups that have more than three (those are more complicated to take care of, males are prettier too) sand or gravel is good, gravel can be a bit rough on their scales when they rub against it, clean the tank out regularly if you have gravel, food and poop could make your betta sick if it is left there. Sand, I don't know because I have never had it. Anyway fake plants are good, I have a fake plant are in my bettas tanks and they love it, get a heater, and a filter, make sure they both work and make sure that the temperature is between 74-80. Get a thermometer that is color labeled that can tell you what temperature your water is in. When you have the water ready, let it sit a hour or two, put a chemical tab in there that will kill any toxic substances in the water. Decorations, if you plan to get some make sure you get them from a pet store and they are a bit more expensive, also make sure they are wrapped up because the water can cause the paint to chip and that can kill your betta.

Anything else just ask! (:
