your not :3 just trying to get the facts straight, I don;t like dividers but if the fish can't see each other then i think it would be fine, i would never recommend putting three fish of the same gender and species in the same section of the tank. Betta fish can't live together

above_all_else wrote:...well, I've been researching the betta sororities, and I think I'll try it. Sorry if ti sounds like I'm being difficult, but I really want ore than one fish in my tank, xD! Also, my tank is ten gallon, and the divider will be white.

In the end its your choice to do whatever you want. If you think you can handle it then go for it but remember there can be consequences and bad as a Betta dieing. The betta people here know what they are talking about so I would most definitely go with what they say.

I still have 0.25 ammonia in my tank and I just did a water change and added my QT filter back on after cleaning it so hopefully that will help. I just went and got a filter for my 10 gallon QT tank so I wont have to steal my main tanks filter again. Only problem is the smaller filter wont fit on my 110 so I took the sponge and bio media and stuck it in my other filter so it will be ready to go.
I also got a new aerator. It has 4 different spots and it is powerful!! Also got a Anscharis plant. I just finished disinfecting it and its in the QT bucket and I got veggie clips, soon my goldies will be eating yummy lettuce .

Alright, thanks. Maybe it is a stupid idea, and I probably should listen, but I've read around that it's okay from the strictly betta forum.

don't listen to them, betta fish can not live with any other fish (not that i know of) and they really can't live with another betta, male or female. There are betta breeders when breed bettas. im not sure how without them killing each other but betta fish can't live with other bettas. Ever seen a male blow up at other bettas? When they flip their gills up? Its to show dominance and territory boundaries, also they will swim into each other and fight until one betta dies

Here is a link to help you :) A sorority is quite difficult to handle and I strongly recommended the full 10 gallons for the girls.

EDIT: Also not all females are ok for sorority's. They might not like being with the other girls so keep a close watch on them and if they fish be ready to separate them.

Actually there are several fish that a male betta can live with. Females can live with other females but not a a group of 3. 4 or more are needed. Please make sure you do research before giving people advice here dear. If you think you are 100% correct then link away to your sources. :)

Not stupid. No ideas are stupid.. expect keeping bettas in small containers.. >_> Okay.. some ideas are stupid, but yours wasn't. ^^;

You just have to remember all betta are aggressive, even females. Keeping females together is rather risky, but can be done under the right circumstances. I did keep a trio happily in my 30 gallon for a bit and there were /no/ fights. I added two more females and heck has broken loose, they are just now calming down from it and getting along. Every time I move something, heck breaks loose again. They establish territories and are not fond of those territories being broken up. xD

Have you had fish before? Explore keeping a male with other fish for a bit, or two males in a divided and see how things go. In the future you can always get a bigger tank and try different things!

haha sorry xD they told us at petsmart that they couldn't live with other fish, well we didn't have a big enough tank for more anyway but yes i think i read somewhere that they can live in a group. Also i never had a female before, always males for me! plus I just dont want to deal with them fighting with each other so i stay away from them fighting each other xD

Alright, thanks for the link. Believe me, I wouldn't ever do anything to put bettas in danger. I'll do more research before naything, as my mom still has to pay me for me to get the money needed to purchase the fish. So I still have time to change my mind if necessary^^

I've had fish before, and bettas, too. Just not females. Thanks for the help! And you're right keeping them in tiny containers IS stupid.
