Fish lovers!

So, I went to petsmart, and my tank has too much amonia, so no new fish. The lady there said to do a 1/3 water change and add a pinch of aquarium salt and in a couple days it should balance out. Ah well, off to do a water change!

I need help stocking a 30 and 75 gallon tank. I have no idea of what to do for either. I am not sure if I want to do salt or freshwater, planted or not, community or species, or any basics. Any ideas of what to do? I already hve a goldfish tank, a dwarf puffer tank, and a goldfish tank set up so I don't plan on doing another. My only restriction is no coral, because I am going to wait for a reef tank. Any ideas?

I say do a wicked aqua scape with some neon tetras or mollies or something colorful.

Question: Do you guys think parasites could still live in gravel that has been out of the water and dried for a few days? I have gravel that was in with my plants before I had disinfected them them and I wanna go ahead and put my bamboo in its pot but I dont wanna reinfect it. What do yall think?

I was wondering, how long should I wait before getting fish from my local petstore-as the tank had a fish totally covered in ich. I want to get a couple new black skirt tetras as one of my three died a couple weeks ago after I had him/her for around three years and the remaining ones just arent as active since that one died. I looked at the black skirts on maybe Wednesday or Thursday last week, they only had 3 or 4 tiny black skirts and one was completely covered in ich D=. Im sure they have a new shipment in but still just want to be careful.
Other than that everything in my tank is pretty good, my Pleco has even started to come out of hiding on his own for the first time in.... like a year (from what I've seen. Im pretty sure he swam around every night but there were a couple of times I was jsut like......do I still even have that fish? Is he alive? I went maybe two months at a time before either catching a glimpse of his tail or I went and moved the pot he hides in.

Wait until the ich is gone from what you can see in the petstores tank unless you want to buy some medicine and set up a quarantine tank. I recommend getting a QT tank anyways as pet store fish are ridden with parasites. If you buy the fish in stick him in main tank not only do you endanger your fish but if not treated well enough ich can live in the gravel until the fish immune system drops then attack. While very hard to resiat the urge of getting a new fish(going though that urge now) its better not to risk the infection.

I, personally, quarantine ALL my new fish. I have yet to ever have a problem with ich, parasites, or anything else contagious.

Its my new rule now since I forgot to do it to Shiro and Dottie.
Depending on the wood tomorrow,if it is leaking tannis I will wait but if it's not I'm going to put it in with the plants. Got a python!! Well it's a knock off called "the ultimate gravel vac with fish saving claw!!" I love the fact that it has the claw that blocks off the fish from getting sucked up. Also got hikari wheat-germ, it's normal 7 dollars but I got it for 3!! I had to resist some cute little panda moors and a red and white ryukin that I might go back for as soon as I put Shiro back In the main tank. He has been there for a few months actually. I never actually quarantine anything unless there is an obvious problem, and have never had an issue with it. Not that quarantining is a bad idea or anything.
