the barb is usually covered

I've never heard of anyone doing that outside of the touch pools at aquariums. A ray isn't going to ram its barb through a bag though.

Oh. o.o Sorry for all the questions. I was just curious.

But a question too..: how hard is it to take care of guppies and the fry? I have a ten gallon tank set up that I will put the two guppies I'm going to buy in. Is buying live plants or a fry box thing better for the fish? And is it true that guppies actually like dirty tanks (since apparently they're bottom feeders? [according to my godmother x3])?

Thank youuu~

There very easy to breed and take care of. There not bottom feeders, so keep the water as you would any fish. Also, if your planning on buying one male and one female, you should rethink that, there needs to be two females to every male so he doesn't harass one female. It would be better to buy a net breeder so they don't get eaten, but if you have live plants for them to hide in they should be fine. If I remember right I had 11 that lived with there parents without getting eaten.

I went to the closest petsmart, didn't like how many fish they had in each tank, there was a tank maybe 20-30 gallons with like a million goldfish in them. Most of the betta's didn't look too alive, sitting on the bottom of the cup, nothing else.

Oh, another question is if I got another balloon molly, should it be before or after adding my male betta? or does it matter?

It doesn't really matter, but I'd reccomend adding your betta last. That way it doesn't think the tank is it's territory and the new molly is an intruder.

Guppies aren't bottom feeders, and bottom feeders don't like dirty tanks any more than any other fish.

Okay, thank you. I was just confused and decided to ask because that's what my godmum said.

Thanks again.

Ugh, setting up the filtration for this tank is a pain. I'm not entirely sure that I'm doing it right.

That's not unusual. Sometimes males won't build a nest until the female is loose with them.
