I was thinking I'd either get 1 more bronze and 2 more albinos or I'd go for 1 albino and 2 pandas or spotted... /facedesk
I feel that 6 or 7 total would be a good number after some research as long as I am religious about my water changes.

Yeah I think with a lot of food and water changes you could do that with no problem :)

I think a mix of species would be nice :) And yeah it is really fun to watch them school! They're kinda clumsy too! Mine like to swim into the tank walls! They're just so busy following each other they aren't paying attention! I feed mine sinking bottom feeder pellets ^_^

FerretLover wrote:Thanks Indy :) I wasn't sure if it had something to do with the amount of blood traveling to his fins or if it was just color changing...how awesome would it be if all his white turned to the pinky/salmon color! he'd be blue and pink! haha!

Kazoo: That would be awesome! :D I don't know about other people cory's but mine are super active! As I was typing this all three of them used the front of the tank to swim from one side to the other! It was so funny! I think for a 10 gallon, since its a species tank, you could fit 6-8 Corys :) But that's just my personal opinion

I would still keep a bit of an eye on him though. But like I said, I wouldn't worry. I've known a few people who've had their bettas change color.
kazoo wrote:Hmmm.... then I guess I'm decided that I'll mix species of cories until I get a total of 7. ^^
I love to watch Melvin and Gus(my two bronze cories) swim around together and would LOVE to see them travel in a larger group.
Although I realize that the top of my tank will long pretty empty.... another betta is out of the question because I have too strong of a filter and pretty harsh plants. /le shrug Cories are too cute. <3

I don't think cories will school with other cories species. They have an amazing ability to differentiate between species (Albino cories will school with those of their own species). Though they do greatly appreciate the company. It's similar to tetras. If you have two different species, they won't school, but they will enjoy the company of other tetras immensely. They might swim close to each other at times, but they won't truly school.
my sig has been godawful ever since i got an account and im finally gettin around to prettyin it up so plz deal with it for a lil longer ty ur a peach

My mother has passed away, and I won't be as active for awhile. Sorry to everybody who needs me, just send me a PM.

I was reading some guys post on a forum and he was taking about how he had atleast 20 corys and they had made 2 schools and would swim around, occasionally the schools would cross over but no fish got confused they just stayed with their own school. how cool is that

FerretLover wrote:I got some in my tank :) I poured the container over another one so the water could go in there. Lets just say the ones that got put in the tank were the ones that jumped and landed on the desk cause I had to catch them anyway >.> They jump and scare the crap out of me! And they jump far too!!!!
I'm kind of worried about Kaibas fins :( Over the weekend some parts of his white turned pinkish salmon colored...Anyone have any idea?
Here's a pic: Image

Agreed with Indy. Keep an eye on him and check the ammonia. Usually reddening of the fins can be ammonia posing but since bettas can change colors it might not be the case. If it is ammonia poisoning it can be fixed with water changes.

Can a 10 gallon hold a sorority of bettas? (Like 4?) Or would it be better as one giant home for a betta and a few tank mates? Or should I divide it in half and get two bettas, one for each side? O3O I saw a wonderful wonderful betta at the store. He stole my heart, and I wanted to take him home! But my tank is not cycled enough yet, so I am hoping by the time it is that he is still there. He also had a brother that looked like him but darker. If he's not and I don't see any that catch my eye, then maybe a sorority would work? OnO

yer a 10G should be able to hold up to 5 females or 1-3 males (if divided) personality if your going with the males I would only put 2 in with a divider so they have 5G each

I'll check the ammonia levels tomorrow. I'm hoping since I've moved tanks its not that...haven't really had a chance to do a water change! but like I said I'll make sure to check it over the next few weeks to make sure its staying at a good level and its just his fins changing color

I think a 10 gallon with 4 or 5 females would be good.

This is a forum for bettas. This topic a person asked if 9 was ok in a 15 and one person said that it was good. So I would do 4. You can also ask on bettafish.com if you don't get an answer here. The people on there are very knowledgeable and most have been keeping bettas for years.

Edit: I changed 7 to it. lol sorry.
