i posted here previously when my brother was looking into
owning a bird ,, although i wanted a pair of budgies , he
ended up getting a dove ,,
iβd love some tips of some sort ?? when i look anything up for
owning doves , thereβs like , nothing compared to other birds
, such as parrots ,, especially when it comes to pinterest ,
a lot of toys and such are mainly based for parrots , or would
those also be alright for a dove ?

He was also lethargic and not eating or pooping. I rushed him to the emergency vet and they're keeping him overnight to tube feed because he still isn't eating and barely drinking. They're also doing blood tests and an x-ray because there might be an abscess developing on his chest. They think the eye is just a bad case of sinus infection so hopefully it can be cleared up with antibiotics and they can send him home tomorrow, if his appetite improves.
I've never had to leave him at the vet overnight and I'm a wreck, honestly. I'm laying in bed right now and every time I look over at his empty cage I tear up lmao. I know hes in the best possible hands but ughhh its rough.
willowshineshe wrote:hey everyone, i really need some advice.
i have two birds. one a pearl cockatiel, the other a lutino parrotlet. they are both around the age of four or five. my family and i have just recently moved to a new home. my birds are currently living in the garage. this is the worst possible place for them to be. it's dark, there are no windows, it's hot, not an active room, honestly the list goes on and on why this is such a terrible place to keep them. the constant darkness and minimal use of the room is making them depressed. they pick at their feathers constantly and are rejecting any attention at this point. i try to give them as much attention as i can, but it's no use. this really isn't healthy. i've tried speaking to my parents about moving them into the house, and my father agrees, but my mother (the boss of the house) won't allow it. she says they squawk too much and they make too big of a mess. i even tried listing the solutions (putting a blanket over the cage if they get too loud, getting a cage skirt, etc.) but it's no use. i don't know what to do at this point. i love them to no end, they've been with me through everything, but i'm really considering just giving them away at this point... please, please give me your advice on what i should do so that i don't have to give them away :(
