Kaizoku wrote:@Eyulf - I'm so sorry to hear about your losses! I know Sky and Misty had a great life with you. And it's so exciting to hear you rescued Teal! I'm glad he seems to be thriving and happy with Blue! I always love hearing updates about your flock.

Teal and Blue are going strong. It's almost 2 months since Sky passed. I think Blue and Teal have realised and accepted that it's the two of them now, Blue was with Sky the longest, she wasn't playing much or leaving the cage much, and the last few weeks she's been quite active and seems to be enjoying Teals company and playing with him.
Teal is very friendly and tame with me, he steps onto my hand and flies to me when I ask him, he also goes to the front of the cage when they're back in it for the rest of the day, when I enter the room, he wants kisses, of course I can't resist the cuteness so I go over to the cage and he gets them.
Blue has never bothered much with me handling her, though watching me with Teal seems to be changing that as she's started to step onto my hand and fly to me, she's even coming for kisses.
I guess the routine I try to keep to, and giving them equal attention, and including her even when Teal is full on wanting my attention, she's wanting to join in, and Teal is showing Blue that being handled is fun and nice. To the point that a few times now I've had one on each hand, and have sat with them for about a half hour, just talking to them, I tell them their story, how they ended up with me in their forever home, they seem to enjoy their story. :)

checked up on one of the nest today, we've got 8 thriving kicking babies!

they will be fully baked the 14th. we'll see when we get some hatchlings!

edit: August 12th 2022
first baby is here!

update: August 31st 2022
at this point all babies (8) are hatched and growing well!
so far looks like they're pretty much half half. half are getting blue feathers like momma and half are getting yellow/green feathers like dad. except for one fancy little one, who's actually the first born who is getting blue & yellow feathers!!

    Welcome BORB and CavQueen!

@CavQueen - I have no advice on eggs since I've luckily never had to deal with that (besides a few finch eggs we were not intending to hatch), but I hope everything goes smoothly and the babies arrive healthy. (:

Hey, newcomer to this thread here!

How many birds do you own? ( if applicable ): 3 (a blue and gold macaw, a green cheek conure, and a budgie)
How long have you had them?: I started practicing avicture around 2017, picking up new members of the flock over the years.
What brings you to the bird chat?: I wanted to bond with others over the joys of birds! Although I did have a specific question.

My question is this: has anyone had to deal with feather plucking before? My green cheek has an issue with picking at his feathers, but my vet and I are working to find a remedy for it. I was just wondering how others have dealt with the situation and what their experiences are. I’m not asking for advice, just looking for someone who may relate.

Two of the eggs hatched! Sadly, one dies, but the other is doing well.
