Also does anyone give there dog anything after an intense workout? I usually just hose Molly down since we have really hot summers here its easy for a dog to over heat. But I feel like maybe she gets sore or something? I know I do after an intense workout, so is it the same for dogs and is there a product to help with that?

As for the joint question, if if grows to where she may have issues, I advise taking her to the vet. I can suggest Cosequin though, I give it to my catahoula/pit mix Duke who has had hip dysplasia for many years (he also unfortunately has heart worms... We aren't sure how much longer he has :( as he is also getting older.) but as I have seen my newest dog Sunshine seemingly with stiff joints, I am going to try Cosequin with her as well and see if it helps her. Good luck! Hopefully you'll get something that does work well with your dogs.

If you're looking to cool Molly down, cooling bandannas may be an option. It's like a regular bandanna, but you soak it in cold water for five seconds to let the crystals woven in absorb the cold. The "mist" setting on a multi-option hose is usually our favourite method. As for soreness, simple massages are excellent! If it grows severe, see your vet. <3

I have seen those before I'll have to try them out, no corn to so that's always a plus. I have never heard of a cooling bandanna, that's interesting. I have that hose! Lol I use the mist option on her after the workout and I also use it to wash her face when I'm bathing her. I'm gonna look those bandannas up though sounds like a great buy for the summer time!

I went to an Arabian horse show today and someone brought their Salukis! They were a bit overwhelmed by the crowd so I didn't get any good pics but they were stunning <3

I have a cooling mat for Chloe that I take with me for when it's hot out. http://www.thegreenpetshop.com/cool-pet-pad.html

I would talk to your vet about supplements if you're concerned about her joints. Does she show any pain after a workout that makes you think there's a problem or are you just looking at preventatives? Glucosamine and chondroitin are both good thing but if you can make sure there's enough in their diet naturally you probably don't need to supplement.

If she'll let you, and nice massage after a heavy workout would be good for her.

She doesn't show any pain its just how hard she lands sometimes makes me cringe, I feel like all the jumping she does probably puts stress on her joints and I just don't want her to have any problems. But I don't want to stop her from doing something she loves either so I thought maybe a joint supplement could help if help is needed. But I'll definitely ask my vet!

If she's jumping in a specific area, such as from one tree, is there any way you could pad the area? That could help cuishion the landing at least.

Can anyone recommend a good product for joints? Molly has always been a great jumper and tree climber but with all the jumping she does I think she needs to take something to help her joints out.

What to use,...not sure ...
i warm up and do Stretches and cool downs after, with my dog aswell as myself, also good food and some extra...

as she is still healthy maybe you could feed her :
- Wild Alaskan Salmon Oil for Dogs - Best Omega 3 Fish Oil ,...each day a bit over the feed,
- 100% pure New Zealand Green Lipped Mussel Powder...we feed it and the oil from above to my Girl^^
....also to keep the dogs back and hip warm when its cooler -some say its stupid but i did see that my dog walk and runs more smooth when she wears a blanket when it is cold^^

- some give Apple Cider Vinegar ,it should be good for whole Body
- willow bark...when she hurts

--> you also could/should warm her up(around 5 to 15 min) bevor she does jumping or climbing and other things like running, and also cool her down(10-30min) in a slow trot and then long walk.and such...bevor you hose her down, or she could get stiff...atleast some do it now that are in dog sports.
its like when you do Sport...you start with stretching of muscle and such this is also good for the dog^^then you start slow and change the pace or length of one part, then you have the cool down part of the training....not sure who else may do this but i do it with myself with my dog and when i ride with the horse too...^^
maybe it could help your dog too

You don't need certification in the US for an emotional support animal, you just need the doctor's recommendation. That's how I got Harley, he's my ESA.

-snip-

In Canada there's a little bit more paperwork - primarily info about me and my pup.
I'm seeing a doctor Sept 20 to see if they'd sign off on the recommendation form.

Oddly enough, here in Canada, there's two kinds of mental support dogs - ESAs and Psychiatric Service Dogs (PSDs).
ESAs are not allowed special priviledges aside from being allowed in some apartment buildings and houses that originally were dog-free. Since I need Lola to be able to go places like the grocery store, there's additional PSD paperwork.

Has anyone else heard about the new trend of buying a service dog vest for your pet for the sake of being able to take them places? Personally, I find it quite sad, as there are people like who me who actually benefit from the assistance from a dog.

thats not oddly ...worlwide there are the therapy dogs , the ESA Dogs who have not many right and are often not really trained for a task, then there are the diffferent Service Dogs....some psd Dogs are accepted as Service Dogs other only as esa Dogs....
it all depends on the Training, the Person, the time of Training and for what the dog is needed, and testing and accepting by the law.

we also have do do more work to do to get a dog and owner registered even for ESA or therapy dogs^^, but i know that even i the US you need the dog tested when you want him as Service dog with legal rights and safety, PSD, PTSD and so on Dogs.

something about Training, rights, what is a Service dog and what a therapy dog or something else:

to the stupid People who buy vest and tacks to say there dog is something it is not like you asked:
-- a Service dog is not really an simple animal anymore its a highly trained worker and animal that is trained specific for a Task it will not react to anything else when working and even at home it will watch its owner...its no simple pet.
the law will get you when you are stupid and Show something you are not,

Not sure if this was of any interest to you or somebody else :D
so this was only a little info, more is to find online, and so on....but stay careful there are always bad sites and programs and people who tell stupid things or sell so called ESA or PSD, or service dog tack and such...

Yes it is from 2 specific trees, I could pad the area but I'm not sure with what? Maybe laying some blankets out around them but thick ones so it wont be slippery?

I have seen several people feed there dogs the salmon oil it must be something really good I'm going to have to try it out. I know its good for there coat. Never heard of the mussel powder though, whats that good for?

Thanks for the links, I'm going to start stretching Molly's legs before her workouts! I usually just let her run around first and play with my other dog Apollo as her warm up but I'm going to incorporate some stretching before and after her workouts. Shes super amazing at letting me do nearly anything so I'm sure it wont bother her.

Thanks everyone for all the help yall gave me about the question I asked I really appreciate it! :)

I am so sorry for your pup having HD and heart worms! It must be hard, best wishes to him! <3

I just looked up the Cosequin, not sure if I should test out the "Cosequin DS Joint Health Supplement Plus MSM for Dogs Tablets" or "Cosequin Standard Strength Dog Chews"..? She doesn't have joint issues at the moment so would it be necessary to get the maximum strength or should I just get the standard one?

Hmm.. It might not be necessary to have the maximum strength for her since she doesn't have joint issues (at least not now anyways...) I give my dogs the maximum strength... But then my dogs really need it since one has HD and the other has a lot of stiffness. The decision is ultimately yours... Hope I helped you! And good luck :)

Here is a pic of what we use. Sorry for the bad quality photo.
