the pups were accidental because a mishap happened when she got loose one night, but we are keeping the puppies. We have the vet and the box... but I was wondering food wise, I've done research I just wanted to know your opinion

the father was a husky and the mother (lia) was a red husky so I'm happy

imo i would've had the pups aborted / had an emergency spay but hey, your dog, your choice. you cool with raising and keeping around 4 to 7 husky pups though? would be one hell of a run in the morning and its gonna cost a ton to vet / feed / spay and neuter them.

most pups start getting solid food at around 4 weeks but its best to mix it with boiled water to mush it up and make it easy on their new teeth. some people use replacement dog milk formula for that. dont give em cereal, dont give them cow milk, you can buy pup food specifically for weaning puppies. they'll be fully weaned by 6 weeks but shouldnt leave mum until 8 to 10 weeks for socialisation reasons.

ah, i thought you meant you were keeping them all permanently. do you have homes lined up already? it's a better idea to get homes lined up prior to birth to allow you to give time to pick and choose between inappropriate homes (flats, apartments, non-active people etc.) and appropriate homes. gives people time to back out of wanting one, too. make sure to quiz them about the breed - half the people that own a husky don't know what it takes to raise and maintain ones happiness and health.

Raising a litter is fun, and a lot of work! Be prepared to do a lot of cleaning lol. When we fostered a preg/ lab mix is was a ton of work but well worth it. You will need TONS of clean towels, puppy pads, puppy milk/bottles, good quality puppy feed (we were advised to start mom on puppy feed also and feed twice her regular amount to keep up with her pups). She had 9 of them so cute! Anyways, welping box, which you said you had. Definitely keep in close contact with your vet, and call them once the pups are being born and if any complications com up. Should take your dog to the vet often through her pregnancy, and ask the vet any questions you have as they will be the best help to you.

Agreed with lining up homes, but PLEASE don't give them away. So many people can get a free dog and have no means to care for it, and even abuse it. I would recommend only giving them away to close friends and family you know well.

I still wouldn't give away a Sibe as there to much work for regular dog owners.
Homes need to be vetted owners quizzed on weather they can cope with there every day needs. A contract in case they can not keep the dog.
Its the same thing for anyone who has a litter even an unplanned one I've even turned down friends who I thought couldn't cope with a Sibe when we bred ( working and showed them )

my cousin is going to pay me as a half lease thing, she's gonna take care of the puppy and pay me, but its still my dog
so if she moves and they can't bring the dog the dog goes back to me.

I'm giving them to families and friends who have dogs.

doesn't matter whether or not they're family or have dogs. you gotta quiz em, huskies are horrible for first time dog owners (assuming your cousin doesnt already have a dog.) and are incredibly complicated breeds to own, provided you're caring for and exercising them properly. all pups should leave with a contract to be returned to you if the owner is no longer able to look after them.

Also make sure to start there dewormings at an age your vet says is good for your puppies and get shots done. Our vet recommend dewormings starting at 4 weeks and shots at 8. Pups shouldn't leave mom until 8 weeks minimum, and should start weaning at 4 weeks. We weaned the litter of lab mixes at 4 weeks using wet puppy food, 5 weeks we used dry food but let it sit in water until soft, then drained the water. 6 weeks they were on mostly hard food, we still let it sit in water for only a few minutes so it was slightly soft but hard enough for them to start getting used to it. 7 weeks full hard food. At 7 weeks we started meeting with people asking questions and doing home checks, with bringing the puppy so if he was to go to the home it wouldn't be so strange and scary. At 8 weeks we re-homed the puppies that were fully ready to go, a few we held for an additional week to socialize them better.

BUT with everything said I think it would be best for you to talk to your vet. ^^ Please post pics though when there here!

Please after this is over have your female fixed. There's no reason for an accidental litter to happen in the first place. Millions of dogs just like yours end up killed in shelters every year.
