Think it might be the yard as we have Mana and the cats watching everything why we are training, its just kind of funny as alot of the Border Collies who I've grown up with in the training classes and my aunts who I trained dont seem to get distracted.

Friends joke I seem to find the odd dogs of a breed.

LOL, we get the odd ones too.

Got a question regarding treats.

Rio is being a jerk in regards to rewards, he will take treats and will be quite happy to take treats but he gets bored so easy with everything.

I've tried.
Dried liver
Sausage's
Cheese
Hot dogs
Fish dog treats
Lamb treats
Buffalo flavoured treats

Everything I can get my hands on he will eat a few peice then get bored of it even if its mixed. The dog is a dork sometimes he doesn't even like toys to much or looses interested to fast. Think I have a defective BC XD he brakes all the stereotypes.

I use normal packaged brand dog treats for Geyser's regular training (tricks and stuff he already knows) but I save the high value, yummy treats for hard things for him, like agility. That way he doesn't get too much of what you listed, hot dogs, chicken, cheese, etc. and he really looks forward to working when I supply those things. So don't feed him the really good stuff too much, pull it out on occasion.

I also rotate treats a lot. Every two days or so, I switch to a differrent type of treat for him. I keep about four different packaged treat brands on hand, so he doesn't get bored (because he has that exact same problem. If I use the same type of treat for too long he won't eat it.) This has worked really well for me.

Time for a 2015 recall of just some of the dogs I've met!

1. Meggi. Meggi is a young, friendly boxer who just loves everyone she meets! She's extremely jumpy and playful too. The person is me, and when you sit down, she sometimes leaps onto your lap and sits there looking pretty. Haha
2. Guigas & Flake. Guigas is the brown and black, white-pawed dog. He's the father of Flake, the other dog. The person holding their leashes is my cousin who was also there at the time, but the hand that's on Guigas is mine. I was lying on my towel on the beach when they went to sit by me - and of course, the naughty pups got sand all over me but I didn't mind XD! They're both mixes, I can't remember what their owner [my third cousin] told me because I'm a goldfish...
3. Sasha and Saber, the two German Shepherds I met whilst shopping! Sasha's licking MY cheek, by the way. And it's me who's petting Saber! XD
4. Amelia [second image of her giving me a lick], a Johnson American Bulldog [I think, if not, that and mixed with something] who is just a sweet puppy who wishes nothing more in life than a million friends. Literally. You stroke her and she just instantly loves you! Aww, right? By the way it's meeee [AGAIN]
5. No-name. Alright, alright, his name isn't no-name. I can't remember! What a noob I am. Anyway, here I am holding a young cockapoo who loves to bite fingers. XD
He's like a baby! He also enjoys tickles on his belly.

Tell me who's your favourite!

I adore no-name <3
He is so adorable :D

@Luzien Well, the thing is... you are assuming that the owner of the husky was being responsible. You are assuming that he was seated completely away from all of the other dogs, and was "controlling" his husky. You also assumed that Toby was running around him and teasing him. All of these assumptions are wrong.
The owner of the husky was walking around the park with the husky. He was bringing him close to the dogs. He was letting his husky snap, bark, growl at the dogs. While I was playing frisbee with Izzy he walked up behind us and his dog was lunging, barking, growling uncontrollably. The owner then proceeded to choke the husky and yell at him saying " BAD DOG!". The owner then proceeded and walked up to my friend and her golden doodle named Emma. Emma was terrified of this husky and even hid between her owners legs.
This man was not sitting away from the other dogs. He was getting into OUR space, we were in no way invading his. Lets say while he was walking his extremely aggressive husky around the park, the dog pulled too hard, owner proceeded to lose control and let go of leash and the husky attacked a dog. Would that still be our faults because our dogs were playing with each other? no.
This is completely the husky owners fault. Just like everyone has stated, it is not safe to force a extremely dog aggressive dog around dogs who are off leash and playing. And like everyone said, Dog parks in America are designated for off leash play. It is an inclosed area that is designed for FRIENDLY dogs to play off leash together. This is no place to socialize an aggressive dog. I understand it may be different in the UK, and I understand the difference between dog parks in the UK and dog parks in America. You need to understand and learn the difference too before you insult people.
Blu Mal lives in the same town I do, and she has worked with tons of dogs. So she has plenty of experience training reactive dogs. Plus she has studied dog body language and plenty of other things. Anyway, all the information she listed was off of the county's police department page under "Dog parks". They apply to all dog parks in our county and should be followed. Like she said, he broke 3-4 rules. If he had not broken those rules there would have not been a fight.

Honestly, next time I see him I will probably call animal control. Just like you said, I should make sure my dogs are safe. I sure will! I am calling animal control next time he tries to bring that dog to the park. I am not risking him accidentally letting go of the leash and him killing my 10 pound scottie mix or injuring my boxer mix. I need to take care of my dogs, and my friends are concerned about their dogs. We should not have to leave the park because he brings an aggressive dog to the park. We shouldn't have to worry about our dogs safety in an area that should be safe for them.

As a responsible dog owner, especially one of a fearful and aggressive dog... You should never do this. This puts the owner at a HUGE liability. There are tons of things that could go wrong. And if I owned a highly aggressive dog I would never take it to a dog park. Knowing my dog could seriously injure another persons dog is not okay. Plus at a dog park there would be off-leash dogs. That is not somewhere I would take my aggressive dog. So no, it is in no way Toby's owners fault. This is 100% on the huskies owner. Toby's recall has nothing to do with it either. He belongs to an old retired couple, therefore they could not grab him quick enough to stop him from sniffing the dog who shouldn't be there in the first place. And I know you described Airedale's as "Beasts" but Toby is probably one of the most gentle dogs I have ever met. Just because the breed itself is known for a certain characteristic does not mean all dogs follow that characteristic. Since you know so much about dogs you should know that. I have met Labs, and Goldens who are supposed to be "SUPER friendly, and Family dogs" turn out to be some of the meanest things on the planet. So just because of he is a Airedale does not mean he follows all of those characteristics.

Another thing you said was " What if the husky was attacked by a dog when it was younger" Okay, well why force a dog into an extremely stressful situation? It is like a dog who has been abused and hit, and chained to a leash outside for so long that it tore though it's skin. Are you going to place a leash back on that dog and leave him outside until he is okay and not stressed out? Are you going to try and forcefully pet it even though it is terrified of hands? That will stress the dog out like no other and is a very inhumane way of training a dog. I do nothing but positive reinforcement training with my animals. This man was forcing his husky to interact with other dogs. And then when the husky reacted in an appropriate way to his personal situation the owner choked him. The dog was clearly stressed out and overwhelmed. He did not want to be there, and the owner was not helping him. He was in fact setting his dog up for failure and making him worse.

Cardinal wrote:As someone who owns a dog that would willingly and happily destory another dog... You dont bring your agressive dog to a dog park????? Ever???? You fully know that there will be unleashed dogs at a dog park??? Why set your dog up to fail??? Like.. it makes no sense. At all. The husky owner is a dumdum. I normally think that dog owners should control their dogs.. but if youre in a safe area designed for offleash play.. Im not as strict about it. You dont bring your aggresdive dog into an area designed for offleash play. -_-

I completely agree!! Owners should definitely control their dogs when it isn't in an area like a dog park. I always make sure my dog is under control when we go hiking or walking etc. I would never let them approach a dog who is on leash while we were hiking. But as you said, when a place is designated for off leashed dogs to play I would not bring a dog like that there. In this case he should have been more responsible about his husky. But I am completely with you. I am all about owners controlling their dogs. And I actually get really upset when my dog is on a leash while walking or training at a public park, and someone lets their dog off leash and it runs up to me and my dog. But at a dog park... Toby is fully allowed to be off leash. Thank you for your input! It is always helpful getting insight from someone who understands what a dog aggressive dog is like. Plus you are showing how a responsible dog owner is supposed to act like! lol

Yep I keep them separate its one of the first things I do I also only keep a few of each treat so I can carry more variety.

He isn't free fed as all of mine are on a raw diet so he has a meal in the morning and one at night.

Treat wise we don't really use wet as its kind of hard to store them and keep clean, but we do use a lot of variety in flavour for some reason he just seems to get bored of treats no matter what it is. Meat wise I use, duck, chicken venison, buffalo dog treats even ostrich, or stuff he is never a load such as deli meats and cheese which he likes for so long then goes na not interested ( after two or three peice).
Cat food is dry for the ferrets which Is Taste of The Wild so he will have that which comes in two flavours but again a few peice along he gets bored. He isn't even over treated which Is funny.

He is free run and played with before and after training its just with all the rain we had the fields we train on are flooded so we end up soaked before we start so most of the training is being done in the yard with sits and waits on walks at roads.
We only do about 15 minutes of actual training about 3 of each command he knows split up with games to try and keep him interested.

In the house he will play with anything but you take it outside he doesn't want to know. I even tried a rabbit skin which he ignored outside.

Out of all the dogs I've trained he is one of the hardest to pin down something he likes.

I know this isn't a ferret topic, but when I saw this I had to respond!
Please be careful feeding your ferts TOTW. Both formulas include peas, which have been linked to bladder stones in ferrets. As I'm sure you know, bladder stones can be fatal!

I currently feed my ferrets Orijen, but I know it can be pricey. I've also fed ferrets Wellness complete cat food (the blue bag) and they did well on that too!

On to the topic of the husky, I agree! In the US, dog parks are places where unleashed dogs can play and have fun. I don't personally take my dogs there because of my personal preferences, but setting a DA dog up to fail isn't fair. It's not fair to the dog, or any dog they get a hold of, or the owner of any dog they may get a hold of.

The husky was not at fault here, but his owner 100% was. I don't blame animals in situations like this, because it is up to their people to manage them. For example, Cardinal with June, Mac with Dixie and Dakonic with Alice.

@Trans Kitty sorry I meant to say Huskies owner was completely at fault not husky ^.^ just a typo. I never blame animals either because they really don't know how to react in that situation. I completely agree! I should fix that before someone reads it wrong lol

@Trans
I've looking at switching them for that reason that's why I been using the food for treats.
Do they do the Orijan in cat food Were I go I've only seen the brand in dog food.
Wellness I think I've seen in the cat food but with the UK pet outlets its kind of hard to get the good US brands of food. Its half the reason everyone is on a raw diet.

The dog food there stocking is getting better though I'm seeing alot more brands such as Lilys kitchen, Orijan, Arcana, things like that.
The variety in premade raw as well is good though at the minute were set for a few months XD.

I've had a friend try the range of dog ice cream on her Saluki x Borzoi he seems to like it so I might get the monsters some as a treat when I take Rio to get some new toys and treats. I wont take Mana because last time she was stealing treats ( why I took her when she is renowned thief I don't know )

Thank you for that I new one place did it but couldn't remember if it was Kennel Gate or P@H. I use both places for different dog toys and treats.
