i know i will not make many friends with this...but this is common sence and law...
when a dog attacks out of the blue the owner is at fault and has to pay anything his dog did destroy.
when a dog attacks after it was angered the judge will say who has to pay more or both the same
when a free dog attacks a leashed dog he may pay all or a big part..
and so on
it all depends on how, why, how many,....
you have to look in your dog law of your Country/area....
i really dont want to bring up here every law of different countrys about Dogs, way to much work now...
.Middy. wrote:That fight fault was 100% on the husky owner. You don't bring aggressive dogs into the dog park. If you do, then that's your own fault when a fight breaks out.
It was a off leash dog park (99% sure anyways). Most of which have rules saying not to bring leashed dogs in because they get over excited and can cause issues.
even of leeash parks have Areas where you can sit and there the Dogs should be at leashe.
NO

it was never 100% percent the Husky owner fault
maybe 40 to 60 as he did not think about the People who cant contol there dog to stay away from a leashed dog and did not use a muzzle on his dog for safety...
why should it be his only fault....where there not other dog owner and the owner of the airedale
he had maybe a dog from a bad home, he trys to rehab this dog to get bether with other Dogs....what do you know when you dont know him and his Dogs, or did you talk with him about his Problems and how he trains
i know some dog People who work with shelter Dogs...they Train them when they are nervous or Show stressed Aggression on there Training places first, then they walk on streets, sit in parks-forest-street- or where ever for hours, to get the dog to relaxe and calm down, the same for dog parks...they sit at the sitting area with there leashed do to get him used to playing Dogs...but in a sitting are has no unleashed dog to be when not 100% under control of the owner when at all...in our area they have the free running area the walks and trail, and in the sitting area are only Dogs accepted that are on leashe!
You can bring a aggressive dog there when on leash
that say every rule of nearly every dog park i did see...say should try to stay away from other Dogs when possible but nothing more...
--> when a dog is on leash it should be not approached....as there is a Point for it.!!
Tell me...how Long are you with Dogs or as dog Trainer- or in the law?...i only ask to see how many years of dog Training knowledge you have...i was my whole life with Dogs my mother did Train hers as working dog and also did know a lot People around our home who had Dogs of different breeds,,,but mostly large Dogs and some that did go to shelter to walk the Dogs there ...so i did grow up with it...but still are learning very much new things...but the first Thing i did learn ...do not only see things as black and White...see the things from other People view aswell as the animals view too...
what would you do when you have a nervous aggressive dog that gets all barky around other Dogs ,that you try to Train them to get bether
would you also stay away from Dogs....i not, i would Train them step by step to get bether and relaxed around there Problem...so to shy away from this makes the dog not bether...
i would sit in a stupid dog park-forest -street for hours till he Shows one sign of getting relaxed and go....
so why should he not do the same...working his one angsty dog while watching his two other Dogs play^^
so when you think from his Point of view...as if it where your dog...
you go in a dog park to a time where there are Dogs but not so many as later...you set you nice Dogs free to run and Play, and sit relaxed down with your nervous angsty dog that maybe was attacked when younger and that he trys to get relaxed around other Dogs...so you sit there and try to tell your dog that ist alright....then a big dog an Airedale Terrier( i know this Dogs they can be mean big beasts....and have a hard temper with the crazyness of a Terrier, also they are hunting Dogs...so see a nice mix for chaos...^^) so he runs around and trys to go near the leashed dog...again and again....who goes crazy as he is in his safety area and near his owner...so running away does not work attacking does not work as on leashe....so barking and jumping around is the Thing to do...his pack hears this and Comes to look and defend (thats normal for every pack)
...but still the airedale owner does not take the dog away...the Husky owner trys to get his dog to calm but has now also his other two Dogs in pack defence mind to get under control the other Dogs come too...and airedle is in striking range.....chaos ...biting....but why where the other dog owner not there...or atleast the aredale owner to get his dog bevor to close
im always near my dog....and when i see an other dog mobbing an other dog i take him-her by the colar and bring it to a stop and out of it when it does not work the dog goes on the leashe of ist owner for the next minutes till we try again...(the same with my Girl...when she trys to defend "her" pack against a new dog that did go to Close to one of her friends she goes sometimes a bit to barky and pushes the other dog away not so softly so then i also take her on the leashe till she is calm and thinks again, but she never did bite and respect an unsure dog or angsty dog...stays aways or goes away when hey bark at her!! so i know that she will nothing stupid...and a strong push with her big head or paw hurts not so much or not at all... and she was aleady biten by her best Play friend-some fur only pulled and her dog blanket ripped...looked only a bit unsure pushed her away with a swing of her behind and did go to me)
so why was the Airedale not put on the leashe or brought to an other part of the dog park to Play with his friends....the owners could have done this when they where nice and respected the Husky owner and his maybe scared-or unsure dog?
i do this atleast....only when the owner askes to stay as it helps his dog then i stay in an area.....@

Lol how does my dogs recall affect the fight at all? Neither of my dogs were involved in the fight. My dogs recall could not have prevented the fight because the Airedale ( Toby) and husky got into a fight. Toby went to investigate why this husky who was on a leash was freaking out so much. I believe it was incredibly irresponsible of the owner of the husky to bring his extremely dog aggressive dog to the park at one of the busiest times. Like Blu Mal stated, there are plenty of other areas to exercise his husky without brining him to the dog park. Somewhere where there were not 12+ dogs that were over stimulating the poor thing. You could tell the husky was extremely stressed out, which probably stressed out his " pack members". Izzy and the other two dogs who ran over when Toby and the husky got into the fight were most likely trying to protect him. The two other dogs and Izzy were not being aggressive at all, they were just barking and barking. The huskies were the ones being very aggressive. So yeah, there was nothing I could personally do about the fight since my dogs didn't start it.
I was just trying to rant about how irresponsible that owner was. You should never ever bring a fearful/ reactive dog to a dog park. The environment is WAY too over stimulating and things like this happen when you are not thinking of everyone else's dogs. This man was very irresponsible. There were 12+ dogs there that day, and for a fearful/ reactive dog who is VERY dog aggressive.... that is not a good situation at all.
when your dog Comes back asap when called back..its great when not the Training is faulty not fully good...
where you Dogs around the fight or sitting at you heels by you side???
the same as above...
when i see a dog leashed in a sittiing are....i Keep all Dogs away from there in the running-playing area...
sure ist not great that the dog was bitten ...but why was he not called away...the dog owner was responsible and respectful to the other dog owners and did Keep his dog on a leashe in the sitting are away from the playing Dogs.....
in the busiest time...but you did write it was a early time as you wanted to be there when not so much People there, but there where more People still...
so maybe when ist usually a calm time there he did go to the place at this time...so again respectful behavior...
so you basicaly say its his fault for sitting with a leashed dog away from playing Dogs?
the dog did go there, did go in the temporary territory of the nervous dog...did not back down as the Husky did say too do...but "attacked" and that is nothing else what the Airedale did and then attacked the nervous dog---even when the Husky did bite first why was the Airedale so Close to get in attick range??...till the pack did see the need to attack too....that is typicaL dog and pack thinking behavior...defending the pack and owner from attacking strangers....and the Airedale can be lucky it where only Husky...they dont fight till death...
a pack of larger Terrier(small too) and other larger dog would have maybe killed him.
and then the owner would not be fully at fault bevor the law only 50/50 mostlikely mostlikely even much less, as the other dog was free and attacked first even when it was not barking....but do you know from so much away that he did not Growl or hold his Body in attack mode...?
so who knows...
i think we should always respect each other and the Dogs...when one is on leashe, we should stay the hell away till the owner askes us to come near them....
staying near the Dogs to get them fast away, staying away as much as possible from angsty unsure Dogs...as we would which this too for our own when he have one...
dont letting Dogs run free in sitting-resting Areas of a dog park only in the free space....watching out for other Dogs, and when we know them even stopping them when they try to be stupid, staying nice and respectful. and so all are peaceful outside with our Dogs.
calling Dogs away from crowding a single dog, or going on the last nerve of an dog, staying away from leashed Walking Dogs...or asking if one can go near..
and following the rules of a place should be done from day one...
have fun with your Dogs but look out for them, little signs you may not see but an other dog may and will it see...so stay safe.
to attacking Dogs in park or dog parks:
and when you know that there is a dog who is always free and attacks other Dogs in a dog park....call Police...and when he is attacking you and your dog...as hard as it may Sound kick him hard or give him pepper spray in the face...and the call Police or have a Long Chat with the owner , do what you think is best...the more People on your site going with you, the bether. when the owner does not say sorry and that he will pay part of vet fee go over the law.
