Do you own a dog: two Jack Russell Terriers
Favorite dog breed: pfffft, all of them?
Tell us about your dog(s): Where do I begin? Logan is the first and oldest, he just turned 14 this last December. Despite his age he's still surprisingly energetic and we always catch him secretly playing on people's beds. He's a real sweet dog and just overall a goofball. Second is Jackie, the little punk. She is currently 12 years old, we got her shortly after Logan. She's a weird little spazz dog for sure. We've had them ever since I was little and they're the only dogs we've had in my lifetime so far. My friends and family have cute dogs, too, but you know how it is, I obviously prefer my babies x)
      Pictures of your dog(s):
      Logan: XxXx
Jackie: XxXxX (surprise visit from Sith Lord Jackie x)

You are better of training after the dog has been worn out slight as its easier to keep her attention.

The stay command you just take a step back wait for a few secs then go back give treat. Repeat gradually distancing yourself from the dog and raising the wait time.
If she moves just put her back in to place and shorten the distance a few step again and repeat.

Alot of dogs don't like the wait or stay command but if you keep it up they will get it it may feel like it takes and age but its worth it when you can do long distance recall.

Yeah that is my problem though... When Izzy was a puppy that is how I taught her. With Addy I put her in a sit, she sits and pops back up right away. I don't even have time to take a step back.
Maybe I just need to exercise her before training sessions, and then work on her sit some more? Like have her sit, wait for her to stay there for a few seconds. Treat and next time wait a little longer. Continue until she holds a better sit, and then work on stay? I am not too sure. Izzy was a way better listener haha

Terriers have a lot of energy, so it wouldn't surprise me if more exercise before training helped with Addy.(: Deebee CANNOT sit still or work on stay if he hasn't been worn out first, while Eva is rarely too antsy to focus. He just has too much energy! I have found that he can focus on "boring" commands like sit and stay better if I bring out the flirt pole for a few minutes and go through spin, jump, rollover etc first.(: Stay has still been hard for him because he likes to follow me, but he has improved with work. ^^

Well I am starting to get very frustrated. As much as I love my dog park people are starting to irritate me. So, just incase people don't know my exact situation I need to explain a bit.
So I go to a local dog park in town everyday at 3 with a group of people I know very well. All of our dogs were raised together and get along really well. Anyway, we decided to go around 3 because no one ever went to the dog park during that time. We thought it would be a perfect time for our dogs to run around together and have fun. Well people started seeing a group of dogs showing up at three and decided to join. Now we don't have a problem because none of our dogs are aggressive, it is other people who are irresponsible owners with aggressive dogs. Anyway, recently more people have been showing up around 3. None of us are sure why. But the new dogs who have been coming at 3 are all very iffy. They tend to have short temperaments which forces either us to leave or just deal with it.
Sadly today my group has had enough. This man brought his three siberian huskies in, two of them were fine the third one was severely aggressive. The man kept him on a leash but the dog was going nuts, barking, howling, trying to go after other dogs. Then the owner would choke him with the collar trying to pull him back. But the worst part about it is, some of our dogs got curious and tried saying hi to said husky. The other two huskies would try attacking our dogs because they were too close to the other one.
Well I kept Izzy and Addy away and played frisbee, but my friends Airedele Terrier decided to get close to check him out. The husky started attacking him. And then the guys other two huskies ran over and joined in as well. Then I tried grabbing Izzy and Addy and I could only get ahold of Addy. Well Izzy and two other dogs ran over and were being "Cheerleaders" and barking and encouraging them. I quickly was able to grab Izzy and my friends grabbed their dogs. We got the dogs off of the Aridele and the poor guy was covered in blood.

This is why I don't like dog parks. But I do enjoy my dog playing with her friends. My group is going to try and see going at a different time but it is difficult to find a good time. But it isn't like we can kick him out of the park. And despite the fact the park has rules, no one seems to follow them. My friends are all very responsible dog owners and it is idiots like this who make dog parks suck. Luckily neither of my dogs got hurt, but my friends dog did.
Hopefully we can figure something out or find a different area to meet at. :/ This has gotten very overwhelming for my friends and I and recently a lot of idiots have been showing up. Not sure if we should start reporting people. But I am almost done going to the park even if it is with my friends.

I just wanted to rant, I don't want to be lectured on going to the park please. I already know the dangers and why people don't go. I go with my friends whom I trust. I also trust their dogs. It is just unknown dogs who make things difficult.

I'm sorry about your friends airdale, but if there's an aggressive dog about and your dogs won't recall then shouldn't your dogs be on the leash?

I don't see why she should have to have her dogs on leash if they won't recall very well when their friend gets attacked. It is a public dog park. I dont think an aggressive dog should be inside a dog park when there's other dogs there in the first place, even if the owner keeps it on a leash. The group's dogs are going to want to investigate the new dog. And if the owner has to bring the aggressive dog somewhere to exercise, there are plenty of other places to go, including a dog park that is completely empty about 99% of the time. (McDreamy and I live in the same area.)

@ McDreamy- I really hope you guys will find a good time to meet up! I love joining you guys and I love knowing that my dog is safe with the group. It's really helping him get more comfortable with other dogs. And, of course, I hope Toby will be okay and that he wasn't hurt too badly!

Because if they recall then there wouldn't be an attack in the first place. The owner was being respectful enough to keep his aggressive husky on the leash, it isn't his fault that his dog was approached. I do think he should've had a muzzle though.

Sibes run by pack mentally as soon as one dog in the pack goes in they all pile in. As someone who has owned Sibes they are a fast breed and its hard to react when a dog approaches. To be honest he should not have been running them in a pack for that reason. Dr stated the other two were fine till the aggressive Sibe start.

Dog park fights are also hard to control because again pack mentally DR and her friends dogs could be perfect on recall but still ignore if a fight brakes out heck we had fights happen in the middle of training class. Its not an owners fault a dog brakes recall because something has happened noone is perfect.
