It's so neat seeing more people on CS titling for tricks! ^^ I just recently got frames for Dixie's current titles and her ETD is on its way. Next up, her TDCH! And maybe my CTDI. :')

My dog is a 5 year old German Shepherd. I think she'd do great at a trick dog plus for fun.

Can I ask do I train her the tricks first then send in the application or how does it work?

Just to clarify, to actually get the certificate that says "Novice Trick Dog", does your dog have to be purebred? In most of the competitions around here, your dog does have to be purebred, but to get a rank, do they?

There are lots of tricks that older dogs can do, too! ^_^ A dog is never too old to learn new tricks. c:

Yep! Your dog must know the tricks before you apply for the title. For the Novice, Intermediate, Advanced and Expert you will need a person to act as witness of your dog's tricks and confirm that your dog does indeed know the tricks and performed them (A video is optional for these levels). For the Trick Dog Champion title, you will need to send in a video.
The link that Silence provided has a lot more info: http://domorewithyourdog.com/trickdog/

Nope! It's open to mixed breeds (even animals that aren't dogs!) and your dog does not have to be registered with any registry [AKC, etc].

though my dog has gotten better I believe buddy (my beagle) has separation anxiety. whenever anybody leaves my dog whines and will scratch at the door so much that he has teared up some of the wood, and has teared our curtains around three times. he will also go to the bathroom on the floor because he is angry and sad about us leaving even though he is potty trained and it is really frustrating. when somebody comes home - even if it has only been for five minutes - he'll jump over you and lick your face and ears. when we do leave we give him some treats in this toy that is supposed to be complicated for dogs, but buddy can do it in about five seconds and then he'll race to the window and'll stare outside, crying, waiting for us to come home and it makes me feel so sad xc do you guys have any tips to get buddy out of his separation anxiety, or at least dim it down? thank you! c:
sorry for the inconvenience but i won't be on very much since
school is starting, and i plan to focus my energy on that so i
can get all A's. if i am on here i'll probably just pm some peps.
i hope you can all understand, school is very hectic and since
i am new to the school and don't know where everything is it
will be crazy lmao perhaps after i get used to it i'll come back.
peace out for now, i hope to see you later chickensmooothie cx

Hey guys just a quick question regarding the trick dog stuff, do you need to print out the application and send that as well as filling out the online form or no?
Also it's international right?

So, we've gotten nowhere with Epic. We've been going out and using the neighbour's little terrier as a decoy. We were out of sight and Epic was still freaking out.
I can no longer CC with her, no amount of distance will have her calm enough to not take my fingers off. Even a treat delivered by flat hand results in her biting part of my hand and it frickin' hurts. Dropping on the ground doesn't really work, she ignores them.

Would it be stupid to just walk her behind a dog at a distance, ignore all crazy behavior and then once any sign of calmness/eye contact/none-craziness happens, jackpot? Like just walk, no CCing, no BAT, no LAT, just walking and ignoring.
We've got a dog who just doesn't care and would do great in front, a sort of trail that can entertain the front dog, multiple people who can accompany, a freaky-outey dog and one handler who's looking to not get bit when delivering treats. This is a dog that she's not afraid of, but still goes insane when she sees it.

a question....Epic bites when she sees other Dogs...??
why do you give her then treats.... :?: for biting :?:

that is sounds a bit like disrespect and not worked out enough, as it sounds....
i dont know her back Story...so i can only say what i read^^ sorry when i get it wrong!

to ignore crazy behavior is not a bad step but you also have to react too...some get more and more workt up...
first bevor Training her...go back to the Basics...as if she where still a green stupid puppy...but put on a muzzle to net get hurt.
when starting Training...go on the bike and let her run till tired...then give her five mins to get some calm breathing in... then do fist some small Basic Training and go home.
Let her run till she is tired when possible 3 times a day...she will become much calmer...then go together with a real good Trainer and Train 2-3 days a week for the first time.
teach her something new...find something what she finds more interesting than a dog...a ball-a part of fur- leather on a line...whatever...those you can then use to bring her step by step away from going crazy over Dogs...
it also could work, that when you put in 2 small bottles a handfull of different small Stones...and when she start to react throw it the first time at her and then only on the ground...later it can only be shaken in the Hand and the dog is silent.
or water squirting from a bottle over the dog ....but with both you have to be fast and then when she Looks and reacts to you calmly be happy and go in the other direction. and try it again..but as she sounds like a biter she Needs to wear a muzzle when you Train alone only the Trainer should let you put it down as he-she can help.

You also could try it with sitting somewhere where there are lots of Dogs in sight(not between them^^)...when she tired herself out and get calm you can get up and Play a bit with her or so, so ofen done till she is calm sitting there, then you can go a step or so near and stop bevor she reacts and do the same Thing again.one day she will be near Dogs without Lifting a head or Walking between them
but ist really not easy to say when you dont know the dog or see her... maybe you could let somebody follow you with a camera and set it in here. so that ist easyer for the other here to see the Problem...maybe its something really simple and she is not a bad dg but simple unsure or scared by something you dont see :?: :!: ...some Dogs react like crazy when wearing a dog harness...but when they have a chain collar or leather collar that sits under there head they are calm... or the owner Walking with Long leadrope...ähmm leash^^
maybe you have the wrong collar, or scaring her when leaning over her to give treats...her sight is bad and she cant really see what happens :?: :?:

A dog biting ist owner because it disrespects him or is angry...is no fun and like cesar millan would say...its in the red Zone or near it...can become dangerous when not worked with.
it all depends on why-when-how-where-who-how often-how hard-what face/look-....
but really dont take it to lightly- look for a trainer- maybe i dont know if you like him...but cesar millan is not to bad with what he says ad you maybe could get some info out of some video Clips to use for your dog

->So wearing a muzzle while Training may be a must do, Training with an other Person is good, you really should find a nice Trainer to help, no electro shock or Pinch Collars-training collars those hurt and can make a nice dog angry, let her run on bike or skates or on the treadmill to power out and help relax...and so on
and the most important....stay calm :!: dont get angry, breath deeply, nevr hit her or shout at her.
but one Thing you can do...when she bites squeal as highpitched as possible and turn around, Walking away...with some Dogs this helps asap, but atleast the highpitched squeal Shows that she hurt you...ist what other Dogs do too when they Play and one bites to hard..or with puppys they use the same when a stronger dog is to hard to them or they are unsure ând want to show that they fear them and are very small then they do squeal to show it.
this with the highpitched squealing a dog Trainer told me ^^

--> this calm dog sounds great to work with, use him as much a s possible... great that the owner likes to help you^^.
not sure if this did made any sence or is of any use for you, but that is part of what i did hear from dogtrainer or showing People who did know People whose nice dog started to bite out of the blue
...but who knows maybe she has a healthproblem...like eyes or so...or she is still Young or at a difficult age and tests you...
good luck^^
