Scars don't mean she was abused. It's most likely that she got in a fight with another stray over resources during the time she was living on the streets.

So today was pretty awesome, up until the end.
We went to our aunts, and since we hadn't been home much, we brought Epic along, she's gone there before. We stopped at walmart but the car was getting a little too hot so I took Epic out and she got to explore a section of the parking lot. She did great, was able to listen to basic commands.
Got to our aunts, she did good (it's getting harder for her to leave me now), we had dinner and then I had to leave and apparently she did fine without me. Then we arrive home and, as always, are greeted by the local watchdog.
The watchdog and Epic get along, except this time Epic flips.
I feel terrible and angry, I had to pretty much choke her so she couldn't bite me or my sister who was right next to us as they tried to get the dog to go away.

I feel like an absolute failure, I feel so stupid. Reactivity is killing me.

That's true, but they don't look like bite or scratch marks. I was just saying that abuse was a possibility considering her previous owner's background.

We came home with a new ribbon, and no new points. I'm so proud of her anyway hahaha. She wasn't set up for success, but we have a better plan for next time. The judge was also kind of a jerk to everyone, and none of our dogs really did well. May's brother Cairo finished and her brother Indie got BOV, which was nice to see.
May took a tumble the other day while playing, so we spent a few days resting to make sure the leg she landed on was in the best shape possible. She was find, it didn't seem sore or anything, but I wanted to make sure she was fine to show. I made sure to keep her mind busy, but it apparently wasn't enough. She was a mess today! Lol. Barking her face off waiting to go in the ring. Her sister Dixie went in before her, and she was not really in shape to show. She's a bit underweight and her eyes were kind of squinty. The judge was really bothered by her eyes, and even when May was in the ring, he was talking to May's breeder/handler about it and barely looked at her. May got first in her class, but her breeder felt that the judge wouldn't look at her enough if she had her, so she had one of her handler friends take her in. Unfortunately, May didn't know what was expected of her from the stranger and just kept trying to sit. So she didn't place and didn't pick up any points, but hey, she did the best she knew to do! I'm super proud of her. It was also her first all breed show, so she was confused by all of the weird types of dogs. I got her a little pocket squeaker thing for training, some doggy underwear for her upcoming heat, and I got a smooth collie purse, a smooth collie leash hook, and I think I got a smooth collie plate but I don't remember LOL.
So that's a summary of the show. Well, May's time, anyway. I hung around for about five hours after smooths were done, shopped, and helped out her breeder with the roughs. I got to see May's sisters Dixie and Ember, her brothers Indie, Lucas, Cairo, and (half brother) Eli. If you remember, Lucas was the other dog I evaluated way back when I met May. I've seen Indie and Cairo before at shows. I've never seen Ember before, but I had asked about her long ago when my breeder's website said she was available, though it hadn't been updated and she had been sold lol. She and May lived together for a while as puppies, so they were happy to see each other!

Since I got home we've all been asleep. Got up at 5am for the show, got home around 3pm, and then just slept lol.

Small rant:

If you can not financially care for a dog and your are not willing to care for a dog, specifically a 9 week old puppy why have one?! Why put this dog through this much if you can't take care of it!? Your dog can't just open up a refrigerator and say "Oh I will make myself some kibble with a side of canned food tonight." YOU need to care for it at a proper time. If you are not going to feed your dog until midnight or 2:00 in the afternoon because you are with your boyfriend, you don't deserve a dog. If you can't even afford to get your puppy it's first set of vaccinations, why get a dog? If you can't care for your dog and just leave it with a friend, thinking everything is going to be a okay, she loves dogs! Why have a dog!?

But this seriously is making me upset. Luckily it will be Cutlers last day at the house with us. His owner is going to "Find somewhere else for him to stay." Meaning she is going to find a different friend to dump him on because she can't keep a dog at her own house. She doesn't come over until 2:00 sometimes not until 4:00 in the afternoon to feed him his breakfast and then dinner she won't come over until midnight. I feel so bad for the poor guy that I just take care of him myself. But he is not my responsibility nor should he be. So we had a conversation with her last night that if she doesn't figure out what to do with Cutler that we are going to find him a new home. It is not okay for someone to treat a puppy like this because they are "cute" and they don't want to get rid of it. Well you know what? Dogs are a HUGE responsibility and puppies are like newborn children so either get your stuff together or get rid of the dog.

PEOPLE..... ugh

Rant over -_-

@fairytale - congrats May!

Hey, I'm back, sorry for my absence I got really ill but I'm better now. Me and Millie haven't been out much while I've been sick as you might guess, although she has been out for walks, she was enjoying the lazy days too and I got a few photo's of her sleeping in funny positions. I also bought her a Christmas jumper because I couldn't resist, she doesn't wear it a lot but she doesn't mind it either.

Image

This is one of her funniest sleeping positions

Image

And she looks so young in this photo, even though it was only took a few weeks ago

sorry the photo's are big, snip if quoting please.

If I lived next door to someone's dog who continuously barked and tried to get through the fence to my dogs, I would call the cops too. As much as I hate how trigger happy cops tend to be when it comes to dogs, I'm not going to allow my dog to be killed or maimed in order to keep another person's dog from possibly being killed. And it really doesn't take much for even a medium sized dog to kill a toy breed.

Also, endless barking is not only annoying but breaks various city or zoning laws depending on where you live. No one wants to hear your dog barking and barking for hours on end. It's annoying, it sets other dogs off, it disturbs some people's sleep, and it's just not pleasant to hear all day. I like dogs and I grind my teeth when I work Sundays because it's the busiest dog training day at my store and it is just 8 hours of barking. Be glad they stayed legal and called the cops to deal with it- there are neighbors who take so unkindly to dogs that won't stop barking that dogs have been poisoned or shot over it.
