Cute drawing ^-^
Long time no see eh?
We moved again for personal reasons
I like our new neighborhood better, it's an actual neighborhood instead of houses spread far apart, and the backyard is bigger with a taller, higher quality fence. (Yet Tally still managed to find a loose board even though I checked the fence before letting her loose. Darn terriers)
There's also a park with a dog park in it a half mile away. Tally has been there twice, and I've been to that park to go blackberry picking quite a few times (they've come out early this year) There seems to usually only be 1-5 dogs in the dog park at a time which is nice. And everyone remembers to pick up their dogs poop which is awesome. And all the dogs are very friendly
Tally has gotten much better with other dogs and now enjoys a visit to the dog park, but I don't let her off leash unless she has met all the dogs without becoming aggressive.
I however have a problem. Tally has never lived in an actual neighborhood, in previous houses she's lived in we were always a good distance from our neighbors. However at our new house the buildings are so close together, and Tally keeps on hearing things and barking at them. Does anyone have any tips on stopping her from barking? Nothing seems to work, and my mom wants me to hit her hard when she begins cause "it works" but my mom doesn't seem to understand how much it crushes Tally to get slapped. (She doesn't get slapped often, but if Tally does something like dig in the flowerpots, which she rarely does, my mom will shove her nose in it and smack her, and she ignores me when I tell her not to do that to my dog.)
Also, Tally loves playing in the hose, but she gets too riled up and starts barking at the water, and when I turn the water off she gets frustrated and barks even more, so badly I have to take her inside.
I've tried saying no in a firm voice when I sense she's about to bark and that didn't work, so then I began to turn off the water while saying no, but she still started to bark.
Now when she barks I just say no and turn it off before bringing her inside, but Tally soon caught on and will now bark yet avoid my grasp as soon as I turn the water off.
I don't want to have her stop playing in water because it gets hot, but she's too obsessed with it! And I can't just let her bark cause it A. Annoys me, and B. It'll probably annoy the neighbors.
I might buy one of those plastic kiddy pools, sense she seems to enjoy playing in ponds, lakes, puddles, etc. and doesn't get riled up with those like she does with hoses or sprinklers.
Yet she hates bath time
She rarely barked before (only when someone was on our property), but sense we moved she seems to get more riled up than ever. I've been taking her on more walks/runs than usual and it's helped a little, but it's still bad.
Hey sorry I haven't been on. Busy lately, I don't use my computer much anymore anyways
