ahh! it's so nice to see a recent post on here of somebody with an Oscar! they are absolutely stunning fish! not only appearance wise, but personality as well! I myself own two Oscars ( one tiger - one wild ) that I had gotten when they were only about 2 inches ... now they're 9in boys who still act like babies! very big, aggressive babies! they aren't aggressive to each other, in fact they are always swimming around together and we believe one is actually a female ( despite me calling them 'boys' cx ).

I love the name 'Romanov', it fits so well! I have always loved veiltails although they are hard to find around here!
on the gel food, I haven't tried that with my boys! they are eating fine on pellets and sticks, however I am a big believer on variety in a fish's diet ( no live feeders though. ) and I never thought of that! I feed mine only Hikari brand products - expensive but one of the best, if not the best, monster fish, large fish, frozen and freeze dried foods. I recommend checking out some of their stuff, my oscars love it! ( they have specific cichlid and even oscar formulas! ) Their frozen krill and predator sticks are their favorite - besides their normal 'Cichlid Gold'!

I kind of got off topic there, but congratulations on your new oscar! you definitely got a nice guy there!

Honestly, I got the pleco from meijers so I believe he is a common one. He may be a bristle nose though. I would have to look it up. I planned on getting 4 more of each tetra and I am not getting anymore albinos because the one I have now is very aggressive towards his species. I have already tried a school for him. I also wanted to get three more platys

Just a heads up, that pleco (common or bristle nose) will need a bigger tank. A common pleco can grow to ~24 inches and even though a bristle most is closer to 6 inches, they'll need more space. Especially if you have the multiple tank mates, be careful you don't overstock :)

Also, very delayed but thank you PeachFuzz for the info ^-^!

Yes, I know. But we have had plecos in the past that were in this tank that didn't get much bigger than 6-8 inches. They were perfectly fine too. My problem is that I need another algae eater. The pleco cleans up the big areas but not the fine spots. For example, the gravel, the grooves of the rocks, etc.

Neither in all honesty. It's only about 3-5 inches off of being a square

That's interesting. So it's more like a cube?

Yes and no. It is a rectangle that is longer than is tall. The only reason why I said it wasn't a long is because my boyfriend has a 20 long that is longer than mine.

If a common pleco reaches 6-8 inches and stops growing there is something very wrong. Hopefully they were bristlenoses.

Can you explain in detail the aggression you observed with the barbs? Tiger barbs are naturally aggressive fish so some aggression within the group is expected and is not cause for alarm.

I don't have any fish right now, but I have a semi-funny story (depends on how you look at it) from when I was a kid.
Now, I don't take any responsibility for this. It's all my mom's fault! XDD.

Well, when I was about 4, my mom would buy me fish about once a week. And they'd die each week, because I kept taking them on walks and petting them.
However, my mom didn't tell me they died. She said that my fish was a magical fish and could change colors. So she'd get a different type of fish every time, all different colors and species. I would name them all Todd. I even had two at once, both named Todd XD.

I don't really remember this. I do remember the two Todds at once, and I put too much food in their bowl and they overate and died. And I remember my favorite fish - also Todd - who was kinda green and brown? I remember taking him out of his bowl and petting him. Probably why he died. I miss him ):
