good news! I got some driftwood to reduce PH and I changed around the decorations. Luna's now spending a lot less time inside his hidey hole and he's swimming around a lot more <3

Could you describe it a little better? We might be able to help if you can tell about the situation more. Like, what part of the fish is stuck? Could you find a picture of the thing it is stuck in or even better, take a picture?

Also, a few questions about axolotls to any 'lotl owners out there!
1. Is there any substrate for axolotls besides slate and no substrate? I've heard sand will work, but won't the axies eat the sand? It might pass out of the other end, but will it still hurt the axolotl? Could I use giant pebbles instead?
2. How deep should the tank be? Do axolotls need to breathe from the surface and if so, how often? Do axolotls breath from the water? I'm really confused about axolotl breathing processes.
3. What does one feed their axolotl? Like, I know what's edible: earthworms, bloodworms, brine shrimp, etc. But any feeding schedules out there? Or a link to one?
4. What are the best axie pellets? I've heard soft salmon pellets work?
5. Could you give an axolotl gravel if there's a dish in it to put food in? Or is it safer to just have a safe substrate?

Sorry for bombardment of axolotl questions, there's probably going to be more later :D

So is it stuck in a hole in the hidey? Are the other tetras bothering him? He swum into the hole, right? How serrated is that hole? Like, would it scratch your fish if you tried to pull him out?

Could you take a picture from the other side so I can see both sides of it? And do you know the name of the decoration he's stuck in?

I googled "my fish is stuck in a decoration" and some people pulled the fish out by the tail. Others were lucky and just had to tilt the ornament so gravity would pull the fish out of the hole. Maybe you could try tilting it? I don't know about pulling your fish out by the tail, but he seems to be more stuck in him front half than his back half, so do you think gently pushing on his front end would work? Use your own judgement. I don't know how stuck he is, and you have a much better view of his predicament.

hey sugar pixel!
#1 sand works great, but it must be very fine sand, (i'm using a crayola coloured sand, enough people have used it for me to believe its safe, but pool filter sand works too) also, it can only be 1/2 an inch thick, to avoid gaseous air pockets. Now, large rocks work fine as long as their larger then the axies head, but i find poop/food gets stuck in between large rocks, messing with your water chemistry.

#2 Depth should be about the length of the axolotl, although as long as their 100% covered with water they're ok. Mine like to gulp air from time to time, as they have both gills and rudimentary lungs, but they don't rely upon their air breaths, and if they need one, they have no problem swimming to the surface.

#3 Right now i have mine on soly blood worms, but this is due to a lack of variety in my area, I will be buying worms seasonally, and do intend to buy axie pellets. I'm in canada so I have a different supplier (out of stock at the moment now OTL (alotl'axolotls)) But if you in the US, I've noticed that Flymeat.com carries a really good sized bag for a very reasonably price, and I may still order from them myself. Also! Brine shrimp really aren't worth it, they're just to small for the axies and make more of a mess than anything else.

#4 When looking into pellets, just make sure they have a high protein minimum (40%+) and low fat contents (15%-20%) again, flymeat has some nice pellets for a very reasonable price.

# Please, absolutely NO gravel, even the tinyest piece of it can impaction and hurt the poor axie, please stick to either bare bottom, fine sand, or large rocks.

heres a great site for axie info! http://www.axolotl.org/

Maybe corries are the type of fish that don't do well on light feeding. I've been home now for few weeks and so I've been able to feed them much more often and today I saw couple spawing. ^^ Been really long time since I've last seen them do so.
Though just to be safe I think I will throw in some medicine that will kill internal and gill parasites, as I've seen few of them rubbing against the sand... Only problem is the medicine I have at hand is not snail friendly, so the population living in the sand needs to temporarely move out... Not fun hunting them down, but I think I've caught most of them. -_- The trash snail I could careless and I'd be more than happy to see them gone. : P

I could really use a wish right now, wish right now, wish right now...

What other type of fish do bettas go well with? I've heard that if they're tame, that they can have other fish with them. c:

None, betta fish should only be housed alone. You can get them a little snail buddy though ^^
