@Lotus Petal
do you have a heater in with him?
Before I bought a heater for mine, they'd do the same thing.
usually if betas are inactive, they're really stressed out and after I got a heater they were nonstop moving around and happy all the time.

also I don't know exactly how bettas feel, but is 10 gallons comfortable for one betta? or are they a little overwhelmed by it? if they get overwhelmed by that, that could also be another reason

To be honest it depends on the betta fish as I see it, if the fish like small tanks then it like it but most beta fish like a little bigger tank unless they were in a petstore and live their whole life in a very ting tanks which I have seen and I am very surprise they haven't jump out of the tank, I have 2 beta fish one of them jump a lot so I cant put the water level to hight.

Oh thanks for remembering me I need get a heater for my 2 beta fish, I hope they don't mind it, they been in small cups with water full up in the petstores with no heater, most people put filter and heater in their beta fish tank, I try it out and my beta fish didn't like it, he try so many ways to jump out of the tanks and he kept hurting him self. My beta fish get very happy when he see me, He does trick and act silly when they both see me but mostly king like to sleep at night time, one time i was feeding them late night and king was not happy when I woke him up, he gave me a weird look cx, anyways It just my opinion on how I see, My 2 beta fish are in big tanks but one of them are bigger then the other one, I have to get neon to be used to being in big tanks, since his whole life been in a tiny cup which I feel bad for any beta fish in petstore.

Hi there,

I'd just like to talk to other fish fans about my sadness right now if that's ok :(

There is a specific species of shrimp I really want, a Riffle Shrimp. I've been searching for about six months with no success.
They are difficult to breed in captivity (in comparison to other shrimps) and since they are not popular in the shrimp hobbies, there is no incentive for breeders to put in the extra work.

I'm beginning to think I might have to give up the idea of having this animal and that makes me really sad. I had my heart set on it, you know?

Most bettas would be fine in 10 gallons. In a lot of cases where people find their bettas are stressed out is because there's too much empty space rather than the actual size of it. Bettas come from dark water with lots of places to hide so they often don't enjoy giant open spaces. If the 10 gallon was well planted/decorated the fish would probably be fine : D
There are a rare few that just don't like it though.

:c That sucks they look pretty cool. Can no local fish shop order some in for you? Or could you get them online?

So the light in my tank broke and I had to spend £20 on a new one :c
Which means I'm gonna need to save up AGAIN to buy all my aquascaping stuff

phhhhh

But my tetras are still all looking great and healthy! c: Also, I read on an article that quarantine before introducing new fish is a bad idea (?). It said that the quarantine environment would probably stress them out more, meaning they would be more susceptible to diseases anyway. Also, you would have to get the water in your two tanks pretty similar to reduce the stress which is difficult. Is all this correct?

It might have a bit of truth in it but it depends what you're willing to risk. A quarantine tank might be a bit smaller than the one they're going in but it shouldn't stress them more than normal since it's just a tank and should still be cycled, have a filter, heater and hides. They're going to be stressed anyway and they might be a little bit more stressed in the quarantine tank but if there's something wrong and you throw them straight in your main tank then you could infect everything else too.
And you can always acclimate the fish to the main tank just like you would when adding them for the first time. Not that your water would be all that different between tanks unless you're getting it from different places.

I always quarantine all new fish. They don't touch a tank with other fish until they've been quarantined for four weeks minimum.
New fish are always going to have some level of stress. Stressed fish are more susceptible to disease and once a disease such as ich or velvet takes hold of a fish it's easy to pass from one fish to another. You want to keep stressed fish out of a community tank to avoid disease outbreak.
It's important to keep the quarantine tank as stress-free of an environment as possible. Proper temperature, appropriate size, not overcrowded, etc. An improper quarantine environment CAN cause more stress. Don't quarantine a shoal of neon tetras in a one gallon tank.

Yes, i've had a heater since I got him :c
and he's been loving it so far! Maybe it's because I haven't changed up the tank in a while?

Quarantine definitely has more pros than cons. That article sounds like someone trying to justify their habits without much true fact.
Quarantine environments should be correctly sized, heated and filtered, and cycled so toxins don't build up. With all those things in place, stress shouldn't be a problem. And I've never heard of a fish that can't deal with two acclimations in the span of a month, once into quarantine and once into the main tank.
And the first time you get ick in your whole tank, that's when the value of quarantine shows itself.
I love the fish, ESPECIALLY bettas. Trade me!
I was gone for a couple months, so I'm trying to catch back up on the pets from Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, and the month pets during that time.
