PeachFuzz wrote:SassaFrass!: I'm unfortunately not sure what's going on with your mum's fish. For unknown bumps/lumps all I can recommend is potassium permanagate. It will treat most bacterial diseases which are usually the cause of lumps. How to use potassium permanganate from badmanstropicalfish.com:
"Notes on the use of potassium permanganate. 1 drop of stock PP per gallon is equal to 2 ppm. This is the concentration used for continuous treatment. PP is usually used for 3 days, or every other day for 4 treatments. If water is not clear in 24 hours (looks yellow), change 25-30% of the water before adding another dose. Light inactivates PP. After adding the PP, watch for a minimum of 15 minutes to make sure there are no adverse reaction. Then turn off lights or cover the tank."
You can get it from most local pharmacies/drug stores. If the PP doesn't clear up the lumps my best guess would be tumors in which case they're untreatable. Many fish do live for months, perfectly healthy, after a tumor diagnosis though so it's not the worst case scenario.
Good luck! Let me know if you if you choose to try the PP treatment and how it goes!

Alright, if he doesn't end up dying before I can get the money to get this, I'll do it. He's been with us for like, 3 or 4 years so I don't think it would be a tumour then. Very weird lumps, but thanks for your help!

I did a bad
I went to petco with my sister and i looked at the bettas and now im yearning for another one or million of these beauties.

Would it be
Too terribly horrible if i bought 2 2.5 gallon tanks and some small filtration systems
And set them up for a betta each?

Bettas are addicting, aren't they? As long as you can afford tanks, filters, heaters, and plants and have time for the maintenance, why not? Go for it.

Nope nothing wrong lol, but if you want to save on equipment costs and free up more wall plug space, how about deviding a 5.5 gallon? Only one filter one heater one light, that's just my setup anyway!

Dividing is a good idea, but it could cause stress. Even if you have a solid (not clear) barrier, if you're running one filter for both sides, the bettas still know the other is there. Hormones produced will travel between the two enclosures, and COULD stress them. Not saying it absolutely will.
Just a warning.

But, yeah, go for more bettas!

Oooo my sister has a 10 gal i could steal cause her toad just died (rip in peace ohio)
I may run down to my local aquarium/pet shop and check out what he has to offer.

Id need the top, the filtration unit, and the heater, along with the divider.
Maybe if i heavily plant it itll help with the possible hormone stress?

Also, as for cycling it, could i add gravel from my up and running tank to help that along?

Im just ridiculously excited for the two lovelies i saw yesterday ;u; one was a nice opalescent white, not an immature peachy color, but a dense white, i think a rosepetal tail? And the other was over on the hidden shelf for "maintenance" and the most intense emerald green ive seen in a long time on a betta. He had a very nice personality :) its almost like he recognized my face when i began looking at him, and he started doing slow little circles like he was showing off for me eue
God but there was also a super super dark one that was damn near a metalic chocolate and i just know hed be super handsome once in proper tank for a while

Decisions decisions ;-;
Maybe i can gnab some pictures today. I think theyve started putting steroids in the water to make them all gorgeous or something

Edit: bought the prettiest emerald green boy ever, and the white one i eyed. Hes labeled a dragonscale, but its difficult to tell right now.

I'm very sad.
I'll be moving to Australia by the end of the year and I looked up their pet policy for fish, and I wouldn't be able to bring my beloved King Arthur with me. I don't really trust anybody else with my betta, except maybe my aunt but she has two cats and they're very curious.
Last time I gave a betta to somebody, they ended up killing it. So yeah, I'm very worried about somebody taking care of him.

is that actually true? i remember that being mentioned once before but i kind of think it was disclosed. i haven't seen anyone with that problem besides the off chance it was mentioned once or twice as a warning. i currently have three 10g divided betta tank set ups with no problem at all as long as they can't see each other, which is the main thing to keeping happy bettas in a divided tank imo.

i could be wrong but wanted to share my two cents ;o;

It depends entirely on the individual bettas. Some do great in divided tanks, some are not suited for it. Just as some bettas thrive in community tanks while others become stressed or aggressive. As with any tank housing bettas with other fish always have a back-up plan: an extra tank ready to go with a filter, heater, etc.

So I'll be moving to a new house in a few months and I've decided I was going to get one final tank, I'm looking into a 20 gallon long for a pair of axolotl's. And I've wanted to know what other people experience is with them? For curiosities sake haha.

Also! With the 5.5 gallon, the only issue I've had was a snail OTL, the boys can't see each other so their pretty happy, the issue was my pretty half moon boy didn't like the snail when he crawled over the devider, he got super aggressive one day and stressed from flailing At the snail I believe, and when I was at school he bit off all but about 3 cm of his big tail. Thankfully a little betta fix and aquarium salt has helped and he's already grown a good 4 cm or more back on his tail! Yeah! Anyway thx for the help!

Edit* snail also got moved to the sorority
