Maple, your betta sorority looks lovely! What is the little one in the back? It almost looked like an Otto(?) I'm planning on starting a sorority myself, but 20 gallon instead of 10, but a ten seems more reasonable.

yup! a little oto in back , may get one or two more max, but that's pretty much it <3 10s pretty good for smaller spaces (like my room) 20 would be good for a larger group of females though! or some different species of fish!

I definitely recommend a 20 if you can! I personally don't agree with sororities in less than 15gal, unless you're very experienced with bettas (like a few years at least) and will be around almost all day to watch the fish. You'll be glad if you go with the 20, it's a lot easier and the chance of success is much higher c: just my 2 cents though

A 20gal will be tough because I already have a 20 tropical. I might have to hold off on the sorority until next year, but I might get a 5gal for one betta. I see them in their small cups and feel so bad. They have great potential and are stuck in stupid cups, but I don't have the space to take them all .-.

;n; i know, i walked into a petsmart the other day and literally saw 4 dead ones, an a few almost deads that i sent to the back cause the guy asked if i needed anything. I'm just happy that i can give the ones i have a fairer chance at life then people that keep them in those cups and tiny bowls. OOh! but i had the coolest idea the other day (obviously don't have the space buuut fun for the nerds OTL) grab a pair of ten gallons, split them both in half, black gravel and then get big colorful rocks (red, green, blue and yellow, ) stick those in one color for each side. then grab yourself a betta to match those colors best you can, with a matching color fabric plant, and possibly a hide of some sort, stick them in, everyone gets a moss ball and tuh dah! harry potter house themed tanks!

That would be adorable, but it might be easier to match the rock to the betta :

URGENT
I was getting ready to go to bed for the night when I noticed my red dwarf gourami was up near the top not moving a lot. His breathing seemed normal, but I did notice he was fatter than usual. I did a little research and found it could be parasites, dropsy, or over feeding. I'm hoping it's just that he's eaten a lot, but I'm worried it could be something else. Any advice? No pine coning scales, but definately a bit lethargic. I'll check him in the morning, here's hoping he'll last the night :(

Thanks!
CSF

Update
Sadly I woke up this morning to find him dead on the bottom of my tank :( It's weird because he was fine all of yesterday, and seemed to turn at night.

So I think I might have a very pregnant guppy, but I'm not sure. Before anybody jumps to any conclusions, yes I do have male guppies, no she did not get pregnant from them.
But anyways, I took as best of pictures I could of her, think you can determine if my suspicions are correct or not? And if they are, should I just let the minnows in the tank with them eat the babies or should I move her to my other tank?

Yup, definitely pregnant! I'd say she's got about 1 or 1 1/2 week left? Whether you move her or not is really up to you and whether you want some of the fry to survive or not. Personally at this point I would recommend avoiding stress by leaving her in her current tank.

I think I'll keep the fry. I believe I still have fry food
And I have a breeder/fry keeper. When should I put her in it?
And I had a platy give birth a long time ago but none of the fry survived, how do I make sure these ones survive?

We got a random assortment of plants for lady betta's new tank. Ended up with some of this which is a really lovely pink on the bottom of the leaves but we have no idea what it is : D Anyone happen to know? All individual stems.
We'll probably kill it.
