Chain pet stores like Petsmart and Petco sell their bettas around 3-4 months old, 6 max. As you said though there's no way tell for sure, so a betta could be anywhere within that range, or occasionally a bit older/younger. c:

He even built a bubble nest today, Daniel has never done that !

imo it would probably be better for him in the long run the sooner you move him over to his own 10g tank. if you think he's strong enough to make the move (sounds like he is), then go ahead. (':

make sure everything is finished and set up beforehand and move him over to it slowly- adjust him to the temp of the tank for a little while, then adjust him to the new water by adding a little in his cup at a time. i like to turn off the lights and cover the tank with a blanket for a few hours to help them transition as easily as possible.

Right, it's official- Obsidian is as mad as a box of frogs! I put the algae wafer for the two Otos in today and he saw it drop to the bottom, then proceeded to pick it up, carry it to the top, drop it, then chase it as it dropped to the bottom and repeat. He was playing with the food that wasn't even for him, lol. It was adorable. He even dropped it, then lost it and looked for it like a lost puppy. Utterly brilliant, bless him.

 My tetras do the same ocasionally. Like one might pick up a wafer, then speeds off carrying the wafer, while few other chase after. Then some one snatches it and so the game continues. Though it's kinda annoying actually as it's usually the corries' food they steal and my corries need little more food in their bellies than otos. :/

Like I said, it's a divided 10 gallon, I'm sure Thymes would have no problems with moving, what I'm worried about is how long should I have him in the 2.5 gallon because if I place him in the 10 gallon before I know for sure if he has any sort of sickness or not and it happens to be contagious, then Daniel may catch it too.

ah i missed that part in your last posts. if he's looking better now, i'd quarantine him for a week or two like you do before adding a new fish to a tank. it would give you a chance to make sure what he had is already gone.

Looking for a bit of advice to make sure I'm coveting everything.

We moved and had to leave my tanks at my grandmothers. I went to reteive them to discover my power strip had gone out and the house had no heat and the temps had been in the 20Fs( about-6 C), in the 40Fs (about 4C) in the house. My male betta and BN pleco had passed. My female betta was so still and pale laying on the bottom I thought she was gone. Then her fins fluttered! I quickly cupped her and rushed her out to the car and blasted the heater.

Here we are a couple days later and shes alive. She's fairly active, always hungry. Shes in a divided 30gal with about 12gals of water so its shallow enough she can reach the surface. Heater set to 82F. Multiple flat shelfs to rest on. She'll swim then rest, swim then rest. She swims like shes constantly fighting gravity, her nose up and her tail under her. Im thinking her swim bladder is damaged... Any ideas? :( If she doesnt recover I may consider euthing her
Honey, it's in the stars
And you're my everything from here to Mars
And every word I say I truly mean
Dear darling, I hope I'm being clear
'Cause there's no one like you on earth
That can be my universe

So petsmart has a 10gal for $10 and I'm debating on whether or not to get it for a betta or two(I would split the tank). The other option I was thinking was a 2.5gal set up. If prefer the 10, but it's not practical with the space I have in my apartment, but I also don't want to get a tank too small for a betta. Is a 2.5 too small? Thank you for any input/help ^-^
