My god I'm so worried about my gal, we've been going through a bit of a rough patch.
She's a two year old Leucistic axolotl and I got her gosh,,, probably going on two weeks ago now?

Anyway, after a good few very bad rookie mistakes with fish keeping in general her tank is no longer cycled and considering she has raw food it's a bit tricky. All of her poop/leftover food gets buried in the sand so I can't see it so I have to sift through ALL of it on at least a weekly basis but with her her no tank not being cycled I'm going to have to start doing it every three days instead. I don't have a gravel siphon yet so i have to use a very small net used for guppies and it takes. so. long. x'D

Oh well, we're upgrading her tank soon so hopefully that'll help a bit and I'm going to spam the whole tank with plants galore in the hopes that it somewhat helps xD

I'm not very well versed in axolotl care but the best thing you would be able to do to help is get the cycle established ASAP, as axolotl are very sensitive to ammonia burns. I'd suggest keeping her in the tank she's in and adding some primer, and not moving her until the other tank has cycled for at least a month as you don't want to stress her out. Also, as you said plants are good! Axolotls like to hide i'm pretty sure, though I'm not sure how the plants will fare if the tank isn't cycled. Maybe ask another more experienced person on that. Good luck! c:

How many fish tanks do you have: just one ten gallon
Types of fish that you have: male copper delta tail betta, a spotted cory catfish, a emerald green cory catfish, a julii cory catfish, and three black racer snails!
Your fishs' names: the betta is named Prince Orm after Aquaman's evil brother, and the cories are named Pavlov, Oz, and Schroedinger (respectively)
How long have you had fish: going on a month and a half!

I'm looking forward to learning more about fish and tank upkeep as I go along my journey! I work at my local chain pet store as an aquatics specialist, and learn something new every day!

My betta is such a fiesty little guy, showing his fins off every chance he gets and actually jumping to the surface to grab treats from my fingers! And my catfish love to play tag around the tank.

How many fish tanks do you have: Two 5 gallons
Types of fish that you have: Bettas
Your fishs' names: Moonchild and Orchid
How long have you had fish: since March 23, 2019

Moonchild is a dumbo halfmoon (according to Petsmart) male with blue/black coloring and red bottom fins. Orchid is a veiltail (again, according to Petsmart) male and he's orange with lavenderish reflective scales scattered on him, namely his tail and by his gills. He's super pretty; the image I linked is darker than he really is.

Orchid's more or less half the size of Moonchild; he's so small he can't just eat the food we drop in in one go like Moonchild can; he has to jump at it multiple times as it sinks or I have to hold it in my nail so he can go at it. I hope he grows a little bit!

My sister bought a 2.5 gal and Moonchild, but then I got Orchid last month and a five gallon. I only meant to get a five gal and more ornaments for Moonchild, but I couldn't stop myself from looking at the bettas they had and I bought one. I had to wait until August 7th (this month) when I went to see Bring the Soul in another city to go to a Petsmart and get a five gallon for Orchid.

I really want another betta because I enjoy doing this, but the only place we can put tanks is on the ledge in front of the fireplace and there's already other stuff on it :( Oh well, it's probably for the best. Maybe when I have my own place lol

How many gallons is your tank?: 5 gallon
Number and Type of fish in tank: 1 Bumble Bee Betta
How long has it been running?: ahh;; sorry I don’t quite know what that means...
Did you cycle it?: I don’t know what that means either.. i do not have a filter since betta fish aren’t supposed to have filters, and I clean out the tank regularly.
If possible what are the ammonia nitrite and nitrate levels?: Sorry I don’t have those numbers>.<
Does it have a heater? no but I live in a very warm climate, with excruciating summer heat
If it has a thermometer, what is the water temperature? I do not have a thermometer in the tank;;
What is the issue or question?: My Bumble Bee Betta’s name is Duke. He as been kind of..”lazy” recently, he’s been lying on the bottom of the tank, and just lying on other surfaces like on the shell or if I have a plant in there on the leaves. When I googled about it it showed up as normal Betta behavior. But I was still concerned since he spent MOST of the day other than feeding time like that...
His color is a lot more dull and kind of musky..? His tail doesn’t have fin rot, but the change in color makes it almost looks “dirty”.
I don’t think he’s really swimming right either... when he kind of just “floats” he slowly sinks to the bottom, but his he sinks vertically, his tail pointing straight down and his head pointing straight up...

Any other information?: I think it may be from old age potentially..?
But I’m not too sure since it hasn’t been too long since I got Duke from the pet store.. I think it’s been a little over 2 months...
He is full grown, he has been a full grown Betta when I purchased him.

Please.. if anyone could help I would be grateful...;;-;

:c Bettas usually need a heater even in a warm climate to keep the water temperature stable and always need a filter, they just need a gentle flow.

How often are you doing water changes and how much are you changing each time?

To start with we'd do a water change. Not a full one. Maybe 50% every day for a few days until you get a filter then 25% a day after that until you've sorted things. Make sure you're using water conditioner if you aren't already.
Then get a filter and at least a thermometer if not a heater. If the water isn't always 78°-80° F (25.5°-26.5 C) including at night you need a heater.
You can get a sponge filter if you're worried about flow, or a regular one and make a baffle out of a plastic bottle or unused soap dish.
Once you have your filter you'll need to do a fish-in cycle. To do this you'll need a water testing kit or at least a fish store that can test your water for you. This site explains how to cycle your tank as well as what it means and why it's important: https://fishlab.com/fish-in-cycle/

The way to avoid and fix most fish problems is with clean, warm water and you need to get that sorted before doing anything else.
We hope he gets better soon :c
You cannot eat love, nor buy a horse with it, nor warm your halls on a cold night

Ohhhh boy y'all, most guppy breeds here seem to do fine in coldwater and next week I'm due to pick up a heavily overstocked tropical 10gal tall that has 4 Kuhli Loaches, a golden bristlenose pleco (all of which still look pretty small) and approx 100+ guppies. c':

I'm already searching for people who could take on the loaches and pleco but I have a cycled coldwater 10gal long tank which was set up to house the guppy fry I planned on having in future, my plan was to put the females in my existing coldwater 10gal long and keep the males and fry in the heated 10gal tall. After some research I realized that I could indeed acclimate the females to a coldwater tank without problems which was my original question so I'm all good now,

Just maybe in a little over my head, but also very excited to see all my new babies c; <3

Depends on the exact temperatures. Like if your cold water tank just has no heater and your room temp is on bit higher side, it might not be that cold actually.
Can we pretend that the airplanes in the night sky are like shooting stars?
I could really use a wish right now, wish right now, wish right now...
